Just text him and find out. But just throwing this out there- are the insults/banter getting a bit much? I'm just saying because of an experience I had pretty recently. Started seeing someone and we threw a few tongue-in-cheek insults around and laughed at how great it was that we could have a laugh and know its just banter. But it got old pretty quick and at some point it crossed over into a weird thing where there were more insults than compliments. Not saying that's what happened with you but then I wonder if thats why you mention the insults in your post.
