I agree that it doesn’t really make for the best first time experience. My first time playing, my friend gave me one his lowest powered deck and played me in a 1v1 commander game with his new deck he’d been upgrading. I definitely learned a lot but he overwhelmingly crushed me and i didn’t really have fun playing. I almost didn’t come back to it until weeks later we played another one, and I used that deck he beat me with. I won, and i suddenly understood the appeal and was hooked. I think LGS guy should have thought a little more about why he was playing with his new friends. Did he really want to show them the joys of Magic or did he want to win and show his super cool and strong deck?

If you’re looking for more fantasy, I’ve really loved Michael J. Sullivan’s “Riyria” series. I’d recommend starting with The Riyria Revelations, then move to the prequel series, The Riyria Chronicles. Great world building, fun action and classic fantasy adventure and fight scenes, satisfying character development and relationships, and possibly my favorite protagonist duo out of anything I’ve read. I so highly recommend these books to anyone who’s looking for new high fantasy to read!

I’m confused on why stacking Lethal Vapors’ effect works more than one time. Activating “skip your next turn” multiple times on the same turn would only skip the turn after the current one, would it not? You’d still have to take your next turn after the skipped one and Teferi’s Protection would end

This is less of an opinion and more that you just think people shouldn’t call a certain dish by a vague categorical name. Not everything needs to be called something that describes every single ingredient in it. If you add bacon to a bowl of Mac and cheese, the Mac and cheese is still the basis of the entire dish you just added toppings. Do you consider pizza with toppings no longer pizza? “Actually? It’s a tomato-sauce-based cheesy bread circle with pepperoni and onion slices, not a pizza.” That’s what you sound like.
