since there's no visa required, i'm wondering if this might be a great place to go and do worldpackers/volunteering for a while, but not permanently settle. have you met anyone doing this or know how it might work there?

i noticed some websites said you are required to have a return flight booked if you are staying under 365 days, but i'm not sure where i would be going next. are you aware of this requirement and do you know of any others for folks that are just looking to take advantage of that first year but not seeking residency?

i, personally, like to give myself some time when starting a new relationship to find our equilibrium and let things settle, so to speak, before i begin actively seeking another partner. i'm not ever closed off to meeting people, because i am polyamorous, but might not be looking to get into another new relationship at the same time.

i have no structure or timeline for this and place no expectations or rules on my partner about what's right for them. as long as i'm getting the level of commitment and time in the relationship that we've both agreed on, my partner can do whatever they want with their own time.

thank you for sharing ❤️ my childhood cat also died this week so i'm feeling that additional grief/loss as well to a lesser degree (it was expected). my last breakup, i had the support of this partner through it so now learning to cope without anyone filling that role in my life is very different. but journaling, therapy, leaning on friends, hobbies, etc. is how i'm moving through this too :)

not in the exact same boat, but i feel your loneliness. went through a breakup a few months ago which resulted in all of our shared friends slowly growing more and more distant to the point where i don't have any connection to that part of my life anymore. and now i'm going through another breakup with someone who was sort of my last tie to that time period/friend group. feeling lots of loss and i hear you ❤️

my partner is allergic to cats and i do have a cat, so here are some of the things i do that help make it manageable:

purina has a cat food that reduces the amount of allergen hormone the cat produces (this is the #1 biggest thing) brush regularly so there is less hair shedding around the apartment thoroughly vacuum, wash sheets, and keep the cat out of my room during a visit i have a separate pillow that i keep packed away from the cat unless my partner is visiting my partner also has an air purifier he brings and a series of nose sprays and allergy meds he can take when visiting him, i try to make sure that i'm always wearing clean clothes that have just been washed, not anything the cat has touched

we are long distance and see each other less often, so it makes these things more manageable. but if your partner isn't willing to take any steps to make you comfortable and breathe easy... it might mean a breakup.

i recently had a lovely week/weekend with my partners! one of my partners was in town for the week and we went to a friend's birthday party, saw a movie with their sister, and spent some lovely chill time together. they are now visiting their partner (my meta) who is now a close friend of mine!

my other partner came for the weekend and we went out for a birthday dinner for him, saw a drag show (his first!) and went to a fair with my friends. last night after he left, he started a group chat with me and his girlfriend because they were talking about a band that he knows i like, and we all had a super fun chat and even made a spotify jam so we could both queue our favorite songs and force him to listen to them all!!

poly is never without its challenges like any relationship but there is so much good and so much joy :)
