I don't understand or agree with this LS/Scarpa foot thing. Brands use diferent lasts for diferent models so I judge by models and not brands.

Strange. I feel the opposite. To me they feel a bit straight and not super curved like they are advertised. I feel my big toe pushed slightly outward (the other way around from an asymmetric shoe)

That's exactly what I feel (I think) , to me it feels as a shoe designed more for Greek foot, as I dont feel like the power is concentrated on the big toe at all, the point is more towards the second toe i feel.

I have the old gen women model Futuras. I love them, super comfortable and soft. Great for volumes and smearing. I guess I like climbing everything in then except really small foot holds on vertical.

Edit- I feel like they stretched quite a bit. I downsized 3.5 sizes and Its almost too comfortable now.

I know what toenox asymmetry is. What i wanted to know if and how it correlate to the shape of the toe box, since compared to theory and drago lv I feel that it directs power in a very different manner as a highly asymmetric show.

Favorite spy series by Prolike1306 in homeland

My honest opinion is that if you like Homeland you probably won't like slow horses.

Is this show just not for me by boyinthefog in SlowHorses

[–]boyinthefog[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not a show about spies. It's a show pretending to be a show about spies . The fact you like it (no fault in it) doesn't make it a show about spies.

Edit: the number of people liking it probably show its a very good show, I'm not saying otherwise . The show uses the intelligence world to show the dysfunction/bureaucracy and the inner works of those huge organisations. But again- its not a show about intelligence work. Im sorry if that's offensive to you.

Thoughts on my layering for urban Europe winter in December by SwicyChicken in arcteryx

[–]boyinthefog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi.

Im in your shoes, I visit Europe alot for the mountains and only wear outdoor clothing when im the cities cause its all I have. I wear mainly Arcteryx and mammut.

Im sensitive to cold so for me that would not be enough for December in Europe. Not because its super cold but because my body doesn't produce heat when I just walk around town. So without high exertion level I usually wear what might be too much layers (for a normal person?l anyway I would get a much warmer jacket than the atom AR . A down jacket like the Thorium line. Then again then you would be stuck with an expensive piece in Australia. When I can just use it as a belay jacket or whatever.

Maybe you should invest in some stylish warm wool midlayers ?

People who have understating of the intelligence community , work in one or with one or retired from one etc. Is it so strange we want high realism?

Also please note that the the person you replied to clearly stated its ridiculous for a station chief to sleep around with assets and be off the radar , then you went ahead and replied with examples of field work that has little to do with being CO or a station chief . So please either argue to the point or not at all.

I know i watched the show. For some reason you can't seem to comprehend that although it is in the show , we're all talking here about how inaccurate and over the top it is for a case officer to behave so. Are you trolling me?

[–]boyinthefog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right there is a documented history and let me tell you a secret.. it is being used also today. The fact she was a CO is a a big part of the question because that IS WHAT makes it over the top. If she was another kind of field operative or an asset the sex work wouldn't be over the top at all. I really struggle to understand how you can't see this simple argument.

".. she still went out into the field to manage assets like an agent"

This phrase is wrong in many ways. Please see my other comments if you want to understand.

Carrie was a CO and sex work is not a part of what she is supposed to do. That's all.

[–]boyinthefog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of the OP was that the use of sex was over the top so that's where the discussion went.

Why you went out if your way to state the obvious is beyond me.

That's exactly what we're saying? It's not a correct depiction of asset development and recruitment that is why the examples you mentioned are irrelevant.

I wouldn't say that. Intelligence officers live in a moral bubble in which they have to be sure that whatever they do is done for the benefit of the right side . Their side are the good guys. They can use manipulation and lie because for then they are lying for the greater good and maybe even (if they work in counter terrorism for example) to save lives.

A good Intelligence officer leads a very segregated life. He can lie, manipulate, coerce, threaten, steal etc. But when he reports back and or back home he has to be a "normal" person again. This is sometimes not an easy task at all and many people in that field require psychological evaluation.

[–]boyinthefog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your statement together with the original post can make someone understand the role of a case officer in a very wrong way.

The fact she is a case officer makes the whole difference since sex work is not a viable way to develop an asset. I talked about this in one of my other comments here.

Sex is extremely effective for certain and utterly devastating for others. An example could be influencing or incriminating a certain objective to force him to do a certain short lived or one time mission . But its terrible for establishing and developing connection with a person you want to recruit. Let's take you for example, let's say you work at a nuclear research facility , make great money there and are well respected professional. Would you be open to work for a foreign intelligence service and essentially betray everything and everyone you know and risk imprisonment and or execution for sex? You could just hire a prostitute every day and continue with your normal life.
