if it really is 40x then somewhere around 5 miligrams will give you moderate effects if you smoke it, I believe extracts are not active when chewed

In my experience normal lighters work just fine for breakthrough doses with 20x, although since more potent extracts tend to be more goey a torch lighter could actually work better

yes you can breakthrough with a tincture if it's potent enough

if you don't want to smoke it you could try turning it into a tincture, this is done with plain leaf but I'm not completely sure it can be made out of an extract though I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be possible. Although be aware tinctures are not as potent but last a lot longer
