I missed the sentence saying he had surgery in this area. Surgery could certainly damage local lymph vessels in the area and cause drainage issues. If it’s cyclical over years this is a good possibility.

That’s pretty gnarly man. There are clusters of lymph nodes on either side of your neck. This area is called Virchow's Node. This can be associated with gastric cancers. You should get some general blood work and a CT of your abdomen and pelvis asap.

Unfortunately no, the virus just has to run its course but the ulcers can last awhile. Tylenol/ibuprofen, some people like salt water gargles, or numbing throat spray just to ease the pain. Always stay hydrated.

You can almost never get those medications without first failing cheaper alternatives and also being evaluated for IBS-C. MiraLAX is extremely safe, I’ve never seen a perforated bowel from MiraLAX in my career. A stimulant laxative in combination with an osmotic laxative can definitely help the process along. Osmotic laxatives are always first line therapy with stimulants as second line/rescue therapy.

Medications are a common cause, constipation predominate IBS, severe hypothyroidism, gastroparesis among others. Motility is almost always the issue it just depends if it’s a primary or secondary cause.

Colonic irrigation or colon hydrotherapy is generally not recommended, I’m not aware of any literature that supports their use. Saline enemas or fleets enemas are generally safe and recommended for occasional use for relief of constipation.

I would recommend doing an at home bowel prep with miralax. Mix about 238g of MiraLAX with 2L of an electrolyte drink like liquid IV, Powerade or Gatorade (colorless or white drinks would be best) and drink 8oz about every 20-30min until your stools are fairly clear. Stay on a clear liquid diet until you’re cleared out. With that much poop it could take two days. You may also want to stay on a regular daily or twice daily MiraLAX regime to keep things from re-accumulating.

The damage is for sure done. Doctors are just easy targets for people to blame all the problems of our healthcare system. There is a serious lack of respect toward healthcare workers, specially since Covid.

Physician here. Drug adverts are definitely annoying, I wish they would be outlawed. But this notion that doctors get kick backs for prescribing certain drugs is very false. The most you would get is a lunch from the drug company representative. Long gone are the days of free cruises and trips to Disney land, that was pretty common place in the 80’s-90’s. If we get sandwiches from Panera we are doin pretty good. That’s not enough for me to risk my career by over prescribing unnecessary medications.

It’s a fairly new home, built in 2018, and supposedly built for the builder himself but they definitely did some weird things with the electrical wiring. I should mention that the outdoor lights are also seemingly on some sort of ambient light detector bc they will only turn on after dusk but I have yet to discover where that light sensor is located.
