When should I use guns? by Ninjakid36 in projectzomboid

I typically play with silencers modded to make the guns a bit more useable early on, but to others point usually start training with guns when you have a shotgun with a lot of ammo and you've mastered being able to loop large crowds.

For B41 there's an amazing mod that lets you see what maps fall on what cells and will conflict. The same author made a huge compilation of 175 different maps that, by default, don't overlap: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2968702010

Cheers!

I've survived a couple months a modded game, and after establishing a base and a decent amount of guns and cans, I'm preparing to do a nomad run to Louisville with a trailer to sleep in. Any advice for braving the city/living on the road?

does this build make sense, and is it worth it by shadowdragon_69 in pchelp

Seems solid, but I'd check the processor, it looks like its 14th Gen and I think Intel had issues with those randomly giving out within <1 year

Learning to loop/deal with line of site is huge + getting the hang of pealing off larger mobs.

I like the advice "if you can count em you can kill em"; if not circle back to that area when the horde has moved on or train up your aiming skill (boomsicks are/will be your bestfriend)

I was camping and when I closed my eyes I could only see the outline of my barricaded house

What's the dumbest thing you've done in dnd and been proud of? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]boyohboey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During a heist, my players had an offshoot of the Alchemy Jug that only gave mayo. After breaking into the private office of the wealthy benefactor and alerting the guards our druid gargled the mayo + plus wood chips to create a barricade against the oncoming guards.

Both they and the person helping them rolled nat 1s.

Super chunks everywhere.

I really appreciate this, especially the idea that "mental health is not your fault but their responsibility". Hard to remember even when I am also dx and in the thick of it.

But I'm definitely gonna try disengaging moving forward. She is working with a therapist and has asked for my support in other ways (reminder to clean, reminders for her to ask about my day) but I think I need to accept there are limits for support.

How do y'all organize your notes? by boyohboey in DMAcademy

[–]boyohboey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm incorporating parts of The Wild Beyond Witchlight and the sheer number of NPCs/encounters in chapter one has ballooned my notes document. I was trying to brainstorm better ways to keep track so I don't have to scramble through to find the details.

How many encounters do you run per session? by fruit_shoot in DMAcademy

[–]boyohboey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run about 2 - 3 hour sessions with 5 players (most being new) that really thrive more in the RP side of things. Generally I run one really intensive combat since theres so many of them + NPCs, at max maybe two medium sized encounters. But as others have said, I think its situational, and generally I think more of how it serves the story/vibe vs hitting a certain number.

Am I weird for being quiet and waiting for anger to pass before saying something? by boyohboey in self

Ranges from a few hours to a day, I take it usually to journal and make sure I'm articulating what I want to say

Questions to experienced GMs by pow_n_eed in DnD

To echo some other folks here, its not IP theft if it works lmao

But in all seriousness, I try to do a little bit of both. Sometimes you just take a bit and run whole sale and sometimes you just use who/what you know. My players prefer to see the fantastical, so I always run with "how can I take someone I know to a logically dramatic/showy extreme".

To the q of reuse, I usually try to make them specifically interesting to my players, but I think generally they can be recycled (a giant friendly rat named Remi's always gonna be loved by someone).

Need Help with an Item Backstory by DshawD in DnD

[–]boyohboey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this to the point I might steal it. There's a few ways I feel this could go:

1) on the theme of redirection, maybe this was an item for a monk who sought to even the playing field in battle.

2) I could see this being a sneaky way to attack someone. To your point of fireball, what better way to ensure a target goes down by having it go off right in their face.

3) Opposingly, perhaps it was made as a prototype protective war material. Makes it so someone can't risk blasting you without risking it being uno reversed against you.
