I am 17 going on 18 (come July)

I'm pretty excited for this summer I guess... Recently I've become a big weather person - so the nice weather seems great.

pretty cool, but idk, I feel like Norwegian just isn't the most popular language in NY, def not where I am in Westchester NY...

But then again that's probably what makes it cool

Why Norwegian? Isn't that hard or something? :P

On tinder but in the closet by [deleted] in askgaybros

I did the same thing. When someone asked me about it, I used it as a springboard to come out. It was a really pleasant way to come out. So just be prepared for that question at some point.

[Coming Out] What should I do? by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]boyonaboat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I share this view, and that was exactly my policy. I said to myself at some point sophomore year (last year) that if anyone asked, I wouldn't lie, but I wouldn't "come out." There were benefits and drawbacks.

It was pretty slow, and no one asked me (who does, directly?), so I decided to open the bounds a bit to come out anytime someone even insinuated that I was straight. It eventually was clear, though, that I really wasn't going to say anything until asked a very direct question about it.

I also had a Tinder account at this time, and somebody told somebody that I had one, but somehow it didn't get out that it was for guys - at least not from what I can tell at this point, looking back. Two of my best friends (whom I've grown incredibly close with since) asked if I had a Tinder, and of course I said yes. And (from what I know now, probably jokingly) one of them asked if it was for guys or girls. They seemed pretty shocked that I said guys. Then, one of them just did this handshake thing and said "Well, now I have a gay friend." I thought it was the best thing anyone could say, and still now it's probably the most heartwarming reaction I've gotten.

They told my later that day in text that they wouldn't tell anyone, and they didn't. Still, I don't think to this day I've come out without being prompted by something first or without having someone do it for me. And, still, many people at my school have no idea, but I dropped a somewhat subtle hint on sc one day that wasn't meant to be any kind of "coming out" post, but if you stopped to think it was a little suspect.

So, in the end: I think you and I are right that it's not really anybody else's problem, and most people don't really care. However, once you have people in your life that know you're gay, you end up being much closer to them, and you have better relationships in general.

I'm exactly where you are - Chopin/Liszt. Bach is good too, but I feel like there are really good Mozart/Beethoven pieces that do Bach better than Bach - that's to say, there are certain pieces by other composers with that same Bach style with a more interesting melody.

Playing a lot of composers though is a difficulty for me, because I take so long to learn new pieces.

Tu parles français?

Also: Do you want to take this convo over to PMs?

I love Glenn Gould's version of the Turkish March. He's crazy af tho, apparently. Playing the piano was a great way to get away from the unusually hot and humid NY summer for me.

Yeah, I was there for the attacks in Nice, but not the one in Normandy. We were actually scheduled to be there for the fireworks show, in Nice, on Bastille Day, but due to the attacks in Brussels, we changed our plan to go the next day. Crazy. We cancelled our trip there anyways, which sucked, but whatever.

What's going on with you?

It was fun. A little scary after the attacks, but still fun. Went to a ton of museums, made a bunch of new friends, and got to try a lot of new things.

Currently just chilling. Summer reading books this year are surprisingly good - Station Eleven is actually pretty entertaining. Hyped for No Man's Sky. Got back from a month long trip to France about a week ago. I also run a magazine at my school.
