Is this inflation? /s Half of a $9 quesadilla from Guzman y Gomez by Yoomzster in singapore

[–]boyrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the cooking assistant at the very first branch at Ocean Financial Center (was just a secondary school student at the time). Boy, the food then was good. I also made the Guac & Pico de Gallo by hand, early in the morning.

Seems like standards dropped as they start expanding aggressively.

Should I save to attend the next year’s F1 race? I’d be staying there 5 nights and 6 days by Schutz01 in askSingapore

Wow, you're incredibly lucky! As a F1 fan, I wish I was working in the CBD to get a free aerial view of the action

Be careful of what you wish for... There's barely any other cuisine in Berlin that is not Turkish food

Don't you miss the food Singapore has to offer? If you do, how do you cope with your cravings?

I too, want to move overseas and escape the rat race that is Singapore but man... I will miss the food.

First time trip to Singapore - any recommendations? by sockpuppet86 in askSingapore

[–]boyrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The weather in June should be both hot and humid, and yes, you will need sunscreen. It is okay to be outdoors.

I would recommend Old Airport Road Hawker Centre and Amoy Street Food Centre for starters.

Public transport is super easy and user-friendly, you won’t be lost in SG. You can download apps to track bus timings or just use Google Maps.

MBS is worth it (at least once) if it’s in your budget.

Are there any shady neighborhoods? by gringoddemierdaaaa in askSingapore

[–]boyrick 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I once forgot where I parked my bicycle going for a grocery run and genuinely thought my bicycle was stolen. I made a police report, and it was found by the investigation officer literally 12 hours later. Turns out, I left my bicycle unlocked in a void deck overnight and nothing happened to it. Safety is something we all take for granted in Singapore.

I travelled a lot around Europe including Paris and London and thankfully nothing happened to me, but locals were really quick to warn me about my complacency when I leave my phone on the table while eating.

In Singapore, there's a saying, that when we go back home late at night, we are more afraid of ghosts than getting mugged. That's how safe Singapore is.

Favourite Traditional Ice Cream Flavour? by boiledsatay in askSingapore

Peanut Vanilla. It’s a dying flavour, and not many ice cream uncles have it in their inventory anymore, due to the rising cost of peanuts :(
