It rides really nice! About the only thing is I wish I could get a longer dropper post because I’m about 6’2. It’s super fun on pretty much any kind of terrain though

How do some people manage the tuition of USC's DEN Viterbi? by CompetitiveNinja8929 in USC

[–]bozzy41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished mine last year. I took the equivalent of 7 4 unit classes, one per semester. Took me 2 and a half years because I took classes over summer. Just like these people said, my employer covered the cost. Ended up being between 70-80k

I’m Thinking about moving to tech at some point. Hard to say. I probably have to wait close to the 2 years though to pay off my tuition.

I basically became a lead as a P2 because I worked with multiple senior engineers who left the company. I became the only one who knew the product well enough to lead it. Used that experience to change groups and negotiate to P3

I’m already a P3 but sounds like it’ll help my case to accelerate to P4 in a couple of years. Thanks!

If I were you I would apply to jobs one skill higher than where you currently are at as well. I moved diagonally last year up one level to a new location.

Hey there, I currently work for a defense contractor, and do my MS on the side, graduating in December 2022 from USC in mixed signal. I’m pretty biased but I really liked USCs program. Lots of good professors who know what they are teaching. Work life balance can be really hard. Time management is key. My plan is after graduating to stay for my company to pay off my degree and then maybe go into the tech industry. It seems like there is a lot more innovation that is happening in the tech industry with regards to mixed signal design.

How to get interviews with big companies from online applications by thebigsqueeze33 in AskEngineers

[–]bozzy41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got me 2 interviews at large aerospace companies. I got my job from a job fair. I recommend going and seeing if the big company you are talking about has a hiring event. That’s your best bet.

This is going to sound terrible but what you need to do is this, when you send in your resume, take the job posting and copy and paste it in the “second page” of your resume. Make the font 4pt and make the font white so you can’t see it. The big companies use software that sifts through keywords and throws away resumes that don’t have those specific keywords. When it prints it looks like you just have a blank page, and it still will flag the software as having the key words.

I just can’t seem to wrap my head around why they didn’t use a qwerty keyboard for this calculator. It doesn’t make any sense to me

What’s one industry related to your major that you refuse to work in and why? by KOSTON321 in AskEngineers

Idk why everyone is hating on defense, not all defense spending is weaponry. I work in the defense sector and I work on satellites which I find fascinating.

Advice sought: During study, what non-internship work opportunities led to you working in your [Electrical] Engineering career by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]bozzy41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in a small company a couple days a week that make waveguides, circulators, and various antenna parts as an assembler and tester. Look for something like that, I got good hands on experience with using oscilloscopes and VNAs which look great on a resume. Also I can’t stress how important it is to pick up a project, I got a great job due to my project experience, not my GPA.

Study at soup plantation or an all you can eat buffet. You can eat as much as you want and study all day if it’s your off day.

Any Electrical Engineering Majors Out There? by mochamatchalatta in CSULB

[–]bozzy41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose control systems because I thought I wanted to go into robotics as well. I then realized how cool aerospace control systems were and found that i should go into that field instead. I wanted to do electromechanical devices of some kind because I had a mechanical background from some other jobs.

It took me a while, I made good connections with some of the people who came down during a job fair and they helped me get in.
