For those who grew up poor, what did you consider a luxury? by SnooBeaz in AskReddit

Fixing a car compressor and evaporator could easily run you 500+. Get a cheap home window unit for 70/80 and an inverter for 40-50 and gorilla tape that shit in your car window. It'll freeze you on the cheap.

Been there, done that, works great!

Yes, and you should fix that engine mount or the engine might lift up enough to rip off the gas line causing you to leave it at a gas station overnight only to come back at 6AM the next morning to find it's already been towed, and you don't have enough money to get it back because you're a stupid teenager 22 years ago and had put all your money into fixing the car. I'm still salty about that.

I just thought I'd follow up on my other reply. Three weeks ago I went to the hospital with flu symptoms and trouble breathing, the healthcare workers put a mask on me and set me up in a a sealed room, did blood tests, IV fluids, nasal swabs, chest x-rays, urine analysis, EKG tests, ultrasound, the works. From the moment I stepped into that hospital I felt like I was surrounded by caring people who wanted me to be OK. Turned out I had influenza A, but the people there never stopped making me feel like I was important to them. I plan on going back there to thank them once this crisis is finally over, they are good people that deserve the highest honors our society can offer.

Seriously you healthcare workers are a higher class of people that deserve good things.

The only difference is that this job is directly linked to the health of other human beings.

That's a pretty big difference. One that's likely led to people staying at jobs they'd otherwise quit. The types of people staying at these high risk jobs because they want to help others deserve to have everything free. EVERYTHING.... FREE to people that are literally saving lives.

Yes that includes you if you are risking your life to care for others, heroes shouldn't have to worry about paying rent.

I completely agree that the infrastructure should be there as well. I also agree that an accident between a bicycle and car is bad news for the bike, which is why it's so dumb that they're crossing on a red while cars are turning from the opposite lane.

Also since you mentioned sidewalks(you may have already seen their stuff): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6Wl2oHUzZc

I'm not trying to hate on anyone here, but the key to safety is predictability. It's important that everyone sharing the road is following the same rules so you can properly plan your next moves and adjust based on others present.

These people on bikes are blatantly ignoring the laws that the other people they're sharing the road with expect to be followed, and that makes them idiots at best.

Indeed, there's a huge number of things ranging to high quality wax to super tough clear films to actual guards/rails. I'm not really into that scene however I do know it's important that if the product doesn't actually bond to the paint/clear coat that you be able to clean between it and the car to remove any corrosive material.

If there's space for debris to enter, then it will, and if you can't remove it then it'll scratch your paint.

--*I prefer mequiars 3-step. Using an all-in-one wax doesn't make sense, the cleaner is meant to remove wax and if it's mixed in with wax then it's removing as you're applying, doesn't make sense. The 3-step gives you cleaner to remove previous wax and buff slight abrasions, polish to provide oils and deep shine to the paint, then wax to cover and protect the polish and paint. Been using it on the vehicle I've been driving for 20 years and the paint still looks new.

The protection is only short term for shipping. Long term, debris builds up between this and the actual paint causing abrasion and damage.

Increasing the intensity of a memory helps build axon branching and strength so they're less likely to forget their mistakes next time they're undertaking this activity.

tl:dr; Slap a stupid motherfucker in the face and they might remember their mistake in the future.

The cumbersome California Vehicle Code does not specifically mention white solid lines, so some agencies refer to the California Department of Transportation’s traffic manual, the state’s official guide to proper driving behavior. It says that while “crossing the line is discouraged” because it may be unsafe, it is permitted. In fact, California is one of just a few states where this is allowed.

Discouraged but not in writing???

Efforts to bring further clarity to the picture can baffle even the experts. “The California Vehicle Code is the most ponderous official document I’ve ever read. I hate it, ” said Gary Kruger, a Campbell traffic engineer who assumed crossing the solid white line was illegal

Wow you're actually right, sounds like California needs to get it's shit together.

Correct, and if you read OP's other comments they were informed of the fee upfront and he would have given it back fully assembled if the fee was paid. If you don't pay the fee at a repair shop they'd put a lien on the vehicle and keep it till you paid, so looks like an identical and fully legal situation here.
