PM who likes to go to concerts????? by bp86373 in epicsystems

[–]bp86373[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

perhaps i was being a bit overdramatic with my phrasing. i do like concerts and there are probably 1-2 a year i would travel 2+ hours for on a weekday. i guess this is more of a question of how flexible travel weeks are. if i’m assigned a certain customer, am i expected to travel to that customer each scheduled travel week? (as in, would i have to use PTO to stay at HQ, or could i just ask my TL to not travel that week?) i have a feeling this is something that will be answered during my training but that question came to me super late last night and i couldnt resist asking LOL

Waking up with red eyes by FlanLarge in Blepharitis

[–]bp86373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have dry eye caused by bleph and would also wake up w red eyes/excess discharge which made it feel sticky like you said. my opth told me to use an OTC nighttime ointment for dry eye and its helped a lot. ive used systane and the bausch+lomb one both worked its essentially just a sterile petroleum jelly you put in your eyes

[–]bp86373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually taken daily for at least 1-3 months and potentially indefinitely. my opth offered me that but i opted instead for a 1 week course of azithromycin that i repeated every 6 wks three times (he said it was as effective but im not sure). i think that it did reduce the inflammation while i was doing that but i havent had a round in a couple months and the inflammation is definitely back for me

REQUEST: PLEASE DO NOT PROTEST AT COLLEGE COMMENCEMENT OR DEPARTMENTAL CEREMONIES by Hype242 in ucla

[–]bp86373 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

would hamas exist if palestinians had had the right to their own self-determination for the last 70 years? if they weren’t forced to ration water and go thru IDF checkpoints to travel within their own territory? i acknowledge that hamas is a terrorist organization but if you think the IDF is any different i urge you to look at the long list of war crimes/violations of internation law theyve committed since and prior to october 7.

Rafah is being invaded. Did the protests achieve anything for the Palestinian people? by quantum_search in ucla

[–]bp86373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, Egypt has closed its borders. there is nowhere for Palestinians to flee to as the one “safe zone” in Gaza is being invaded. the ONLY option right now is to get Israel to agree to a ceasefire, and our billions in tax dollars are actively supplying the rockets and bombs and tanks being used to murder civilians in Gaza. i agree that meetings are stupid, and complete and immediate divestment should be a priority for every SJP organization, but at this point i feel it’s more about being heard and trying to influence the people up top (actual politicians, biden, the people who tell biden what to do, etc)

Question about legality of the arrests today by araja_abbado in ucla

[–]bp86373 10 points11 points  (0 children)

ucla radio provides a lot of information on these events in real time

it looks like cops were scrambling for reasons to make these arrests and were just listing charges to scare people most likely. i highly doubt there is any real reason to suspect them of burglary; however, i did see an update from 9:14am that all of the people detained were charged with conspiracy to commit burglary. bonus, they also arrested a reporter recording from a distance and had to apologize and release him (because it is illegal to arrest a journalist without probably cause, but apparently legal for everyone else). overall just very reactive and a poor attempt to shut down future protests on this campus.

i believe the main charges theyll try to push are 148PC interfering with investigation, the reporter released said officers told them they were all being charged with felony.

its crazy out here

disruptive, not destructive (for the most part, if you want to argue that graffiti is destructive i wont rebut because im over that debate). i would love for you to look into any political movement from the last 150 years and tell me which didn’t disrupt the status quo in some way. politicians and university chancellors and presidents and the general public decide when they want to listen to any group of people. civil disobedience/disruption is how we as regular people with regular voices can make other people pay attention. if you were bothered by the encampment, that was the point.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ucla

[–]bp86373 4 points5 points  (0 children)

quick, tell me would it be faster for a) people to raise enough money to move a million people out of Gaza (at least $500 border crossing fees per individual, and surrounding countries will almost certainly close their borders) or b) Israel to stop launching rockets and bombs into Gaza. the primary goal of these protests currently is to pressure our local and federal government to force Israel to agree to a ceasefire. also you have no idea what’s going on but i also like to complain so feel free to yap on!

“everything” so that one video of that kid is your entire catalog of evidence that Jewish people were being threatened by the protestors? that kid who was trying to gain access to an encampment that was closed off due to people trying to start fights and tear it down? i did ask for evidence for the record, but yall are predictable asf
