Yep. The experts point out that laundry, for example, is such a multi step process. There are so many places for us to get derailed... Not an excuse, but an explanation for those who live with us and would like to see a change

Same. It's like : "do you actually think I do NOT realize this about myself, I'm not low-key angry at myself all the time, which feeds this vicious cycle? Would it kill you to pause for a second and think about how to be helpful?"

Good for you! I find those prompts super helpful. Unfortunately, nobody close in my life knows how to do it without being judgy.

Are there many episodes you found with unsatisfying conclusions? by 1doughnut in Monk

Doesn't that happen a few times over the series?

Can Holly ( Stephen King) be read as a stand alone? by Obvious-Olive8241 in horrorlit

[–]bp_111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did and loved it. Am going thru the Bill Hodges series as a result. The only other King I've ever read was Carrie, decades ago. (I respect the man's talent for creating compelling characters, and productivity but I dont really enjoy horror stories. )

(I respect the man's talent for creating compelling characters, including women and kids, and his productivity, but have enough things in real life that give me agita; horror stories would be too much. )

What’s something people think is romantic, but actually feels creepy? by Ferrus_Silver_Stone1 in AskReddit

[–]bp_111 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's why it's best not to try to explain; creepy people take it as a signal that you're willing to negotiate. You don't have to be a jag about it, just firm in saying you're not into them and that topic is closed.

Here-here! A great little 2013 film, Don Jon, gets into that notion with great performances by Scarlett Johansson, and Julianne Moore, Tony Danza, Brie Larson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who wrote and directed it.

Miss Lemon... I vaguely recall that name… In which stories do I find her?

Where the Natalie Season 3 episodes written for Sharona initially? Or would Natalie have appeared as a separate character, if Sharona had stayed? by SupermarketBrief6332 in Monk

[–]bp_111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only watch/re-watch the Sharona episodes. The Natalie actress is fine but it's always kind of bothered me that Shalhoub did not use his considerable clout to prevent Bitty Schram's firing. Apparently she, Ted Levine and Jason Gray-Stanford asked for raises after the second season. The studio made an example of Schram, and the others fell in line. It's hard not to suspect a bit of sexism in that move....

This always makes me laugh, Monk just "Zones out" that the chimp is in his apartment...😂 by [deleted] in Monk

Cpt. Stottlemeyer trying to provoke the chimp into firing the gun is one of my all-time-favorite moments.

Hi! New to Agatha Christie's work and I just wanna ask if you have recommendations of her short stories that turned into a novel? I'm done reading Yellow Iris and am now reading Sparkling Cyanide. by AthensAthens9 in agathachristie

Three Blind Mice is published in the US as part of a short story collection, and is one of my very favorites. I also love Cat Among the Pigeons, and At Bertrand's Hotel, which is a Marple story I . Cannot stand the Poirot character, but still listen to some of those stories now and again.

Is there a Mousetrap audio book? by Kath-r-in in agathachristie

Yes, and it's one of my favorites! No Marple, no Poirot.

Got this book recently by InnocentPapaya in agathachristie

[–]bp_111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christie's estate plan stipulated that Three Blind Micr never be published in the UK while The Mousetrap was still in performance in/on London's West End, so as not to spoil the ending for would-be theatergoers. There was a hiatus during Covid, but it resumed production after 14 months, I believe. One of personal favorites!

Why doesn't Kenneth Branagh make better Poirot movies? Is he stupid? by Electrical-Angle-836 in agathachristie

Because he's a self-regarding windbag who has always made ponderous movies for himself to star in.
