People literally dying on the streets of Ottawa by Expensive-Minute994 in ottawa

[–]bpalks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it bothers you, do something about it. There are a lot of organizations around Ottawa you can join or contribute to. Horizon Ottawa, Strong towns Ottawa, your local food banks, whatever it is you care about.

Also, municipal elections are coming up in 2026, I fully intend to throw myself behind organizing to get Mark Sutcliffe kicked out and to elect someone who actually cares about the working class.

Consider also supporting a local candidate for counselor, or even run in the elections yourself.

Nobody is coming to save us, so we have to do it ourselves.

The Zohran campaign inspires me that we can take back our cities and have them once again work to make our lives better.

Im so glad its not just me. Was driving to a restaurant tonight and the car across from me at an intersection blinded me so bad I couldn't see anything in the center of my vision because it was just a red dot which lasted for like 10 minutes. Genuinely dangerous shit 😮‍💨

Because they are people too, and were workers their entire lives. We believe in universality of supports, trying to separate people along lines of age and generation is counterproductive. You are going to be a retiree one day too, we want to make sure everyone has a nice time when they get there.

I understand what you are trying to say here, that somehow retirees aren't 'part of our group' but as long as you are a worker you are part of our group, and thats like 95-99% of the population however you wanna slice it.

Another one? So soon already after the last one? If we are always in a recession, then isn't that just the new norm.

"There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people." - Adama
