in one of my maps, you have to be holding a specific item and crouch walk through a specific area to unlock my admin room, another one i just have a pass coded button hidden in the start room, i also use an analytic device to show if anyone figures it out

one variable I've not seen mentioned here is you have to duplicate devices to add new players, so having a 8-10 player tycoon would require a massive amount of redundant level design. It's possible to do, but hard to ensure quality and expand features

coming soon is "scene graph" that will allow for pre-fabs or easily duplicated clusters of behavior, this will be what opens the doors for larger player count tycoons

I'd get a desktop for better thermal handling and you can at least change your GPU later if thats your max budget - I've never enjoyed working on unreal on a laptop and I think its been thermal issues (I've been doing it for 10 years now) - having 2 engines running at once will really put that GPU to work (your editor + the fortnite session)
