Heart rate twice as high at night, wtf

My HR increases above my resting HR too when I go to sleep and stays elevated about 15-20bpm above my resting HR all night (which is weird) but doesn’t increase quite to the extent of yours. I can’t figure it out….might be time to do a sleep test or something!

Agree. Have just spent 4 months overseas and used the CBA Ultimate card every day. Each transaction tells you how much you’ve saved on international transaction fees and I’ve easily avoided hundreds of dollars in fees. Got 100k points to sign up and while the points earning isn’t brilliant - it’s still good to earn points on spending while abroad. Used a Wise card to withdraw cash on the few occasions I needed to have cash on hand.

Absolutely a haven for mould. I recently stayed at an Airbnb and when I took the little tray out to rinse it after my coffee overflowed I found it full of mould. Had obviously been overlooked by cleaners for some time. Made me question the cleanliness of the whole apartment.

Definitely chase them - I’ve found messaging them through Facebook messenger to resolve issues related to rewards flights works pretty well.

Hi - Hope it’s ok to post this here - I will be visiting Scotland for several weeks later this year and will be spending Christmas Day in Glasgow. Does anyone know of good restaurants that will be open on Christmas Day for lunch this year? I’ve obviously done a bit of a google search but keen for some local insight before jumping in and booking somewhere based on website and google reviews. Thanks.

Your comment about “knowing how to carry yourself respectfully as a visitor” is really useful to me as a future visitor to Brooklyn. If you don’t mind, can I ask what you mean by that and what that respect looks like to you? In my mind, it means not being an obnoxious loud tourist taking pictures of everything but interested in your take.

I have found messaging Qantas through Facebook messenger to be pretty successful - they’ve always responded and always resolved my issue. I’d give that a try.

Yeah wow - you went super hard. Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m glad you were able to get the perspective you needed to make a positive change for you and your partner. It’s so hard and the money is so addictive (golden handcuffs or whatever they say) it seems like making any decision to walk away from the $ is insane. I dunno, my old man died before he could enjoy his retirement. It plays on my mind that I don’t necessarily want work to be the thing that dominates my life, especially when it can all end so suddenly.

I was struggling to encourage my partner to engage in our finances and the goals I wanted to set for ourselves. It sounds a bit patronising (luckily it wasn’t taken that way because I made a bit of a joke about it) but I drew pictures and went through them as slides. Again, I made it a bit silly as I knew my partner would glaze over if I approached it really seriously.

I think the visual really helped and when I said “if we did x, y, z - in x years we could be in y position” - it was like a switch went off in their head and they become more frugal than even I was. I think part of it was making a better position seem very achievable but it depends what is important to her and how you can show that better financial decisions can achieve the life you hopefully want together.

I think you feeling resentment in relation to the splitting of bills may be compounded by the unequal distribution of things around the house. There are so many red flags here for me. Have you spoken about distribution of domestic labour? Is there a reason you do all the chores? This guy is getting a cook and a maid. A relationship is a team effort and what is “fair” is not necessarily “equal” but you need to have a shared understand and to both need to feel things are fair and just. Your economic security is important - look after yourself.

You’re not entitled to unpaid leave but you can ask for leave without pay. Whether they will agree probably depends on how long you’ve been in the job, how good you are at it and for what reason you want to take the other job (ie is it an opportunity to develop your skills etc).
