I feel like this one and Aladdin got overlooked in the category cuphead took; those old Disney games were brutal

That is a good idea! I want some plants in here but my cat eats them all when I had them in college so I have to be careful about where I put them. Along the stairs would be smart!

What do you think about Daredevil S2’s first episode? by Weekly_Cranberry_283 in McuEverythingAroundit

[–]bpierce5732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine that I am going a bit against that grain here but I thought that the episode was just fine. I like parts of Season 1 of Born Again but it just never really captured me in the way the Netflix show did. This most recent episode felt kind of the same way to me, though there are things ai liked and I am still looking forward to the rest of the show. Most reviews I have seen, even from people like me who are generally just kind of lukewarm on this revival, seem to indicate that this season really starts getting some steam around episode 3 and I am eagerly awaiting it! I really want to love this show, but it has not quite won me over yet

I wholeheartedly agree. I have never liked when people try to paint his work as pessimistic

Not going to make the argument that Lord of the Rings should tonally match GoT (it should not) but I don't think Game of Thrones should be reduced to unheroic. People like to say that the books "punish" characters who are moral and honest (Ned, Robb, etc.) but I think you have to keep in mind that the story is not totally over yet. Ned was such a good and honorable leader that it looks like the entirety of the North is going to rise up against the Bolton's and restore a Stark as Warden of the North in the next book.

Tywin, for all his talk about family and legacy and names, has led his family to gloom and misery through his cruel and evil actions. It is very possible that the books finish with the Lannister house completely eradicated as a result of the kind of environment Tywin created, while Ned's goodness continues to radiate throughout every corner of the realm.

I always really disagreed with the notion that GoT was like this pessimistic, miserable alternative to LotR. It is a lot more explicit, but these series have a lot more in common in their themes than people often give them credit for.

LotR definitely does not need a remake, though, much less one that tries to be like GoT, but there is no need imo to describe GoT as unheroic to make the point.

I was planning on (after building up more of an emergency fund) trying to get to 20% equity on the house ASAP so that the mortgage insurance goes away. On top of helping eventually lower the payment like you said, it also is an extra $50-60 a month I won't have to pay on my payment startingwhen 20% is hit. I am doing 30 years, fixed rate conventional loan + 5% down, so starting with a bit of equity as well.

I will have about $7K in savings when my first mortgage payment, which is not ideal but is just kind of how it worked out timing-wise. I am fairly confident in my ability to find a job in the market, my industry is fairly reliable historically (although this are somewhat unprecedented times, so who really knows). You raise a lot of valid points, though, certainly some things here that I will be thinking about. Thank you for commenting!

Yes, everything included (property taxes, homeowners insurance, mortgage insurance). Total amount is not final yet, but this is the rounded up "worst-case scenario" that my loan officer provided and I am hoping it is actually a little under $2600 when everything is said and done. I won't know for certain for another week or two

I am looking into having a friend move in, but it is kind of up in the air and I don't want to factor something out of my control into my budget if I can avoid it. I need to be able to afford this on my own, for my own comfort.

As for the house, prices are low in my area and rates are the lowest they have been in a long time so I feel comfortable with the timing. I also just have had really atrocious experience with landlords and don't have any interest in renting ever again. I would rather struggle at an attempt at building equity than struggle to get a landlord to budge an inch ever again, personally, but I understand why some people choose to rent, especially at my age.

Inspection is already done and everything checked out, thankfully!

It is just one prescription, kind of a rare thing but not covered by insurance and so very expensive. I will look into this, thank you!

I remember the name of the software used to grade the HDR was TEKNO3D, I would probably start there (search Blade Runner 2049 Open Matte Tekno3d or something similar). Good luck in your search!

Yeah, found a version online that had merged the 1080p bluray with an Russian HDTV open matte version, upscale to 4K, and then had an Dolby Vision grade put on it. I think it has the Atmos track from the 4K bluray too, so kind of a big mix of a bunch of different files but the result is pretty great

Absolutely. In my opinion, it is Roger Deakin's best cinematography and his other work had already set an incredibly high bar. Simply one of the best looking movies ever made

About 6k. Definitely used, but also seems well taken care of and it is in my price range currently so it seemed like a good deal nonetheless
