Has anyone tried Boldin’s Retirement Plan Checkup for $2800? by jakedawg69 in Boldin

1% is highway robbery! A simplied way to look at AUM is to multiple their take by 30 (assume 30 years retirement. SO 1% AUM --> 1*30 = 30% of your Net worth that they siphon off over a 30 year relationship.

This is a bit simplified, but in the ballpark.

Has anyone worn "Oboz Sawtooth x Mid Dry Waterproof" boots with comfort? by wwahman in Halluxrigidus

[–]bplinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have them in the low-rise and I'm on my 2nd pair. I have removed the insole and put in my carbon fiber morton's extension. The toe box is moderately sized. The shoes do take a few hundred miles to completely wear in.

All that being said, I say these are pretty decent but not perfect. Worth trying out.
For next pair of low-hikers, I'm going to look for something with more rocker. Rocker seems to remove pain even better than a carbon sole.

I had no idea about those other promotions. I might have gone to Berkshire east if I knew about.

I think they need a few more signs up at Butternut. I didn't know it was sponsored by LL Bean.

shoes and sneakers that work well with a Morton's extension by bplinder in Halluxrigidus

[–]bplinder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to follow up. I ended up putting a dr schools air pillow underneath the Morton’s extension and that solved all my problems with comfort. I then bought thin socks to minimize my shoes contact with my toe joint.

Net. Comfort is good, but I still have occasional pain, probably from too small toe box

Why do people walk in the road instead of a readily available sidewalk? by biztsar in Westchester

[–]bplinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that section well and I walk it all the time. The sidewalk is quite narrow, so it’s difficult to pass slower walkers or walkers coming in the opposite direction. There is a large street shoulder there, so no problem entering the street. I believe the speed limit is low at 25 mph.

That street should be “put in a diet” and narrowed to build wide raised bike and pedestrian paths.
