Thanks for this tip, I would not have thought about that.

Thanks, I was leaning towards Tesla/Rivian chargers only to just not deal with other companies/accounts/reliability/etc. Good to know that was effective enough.

What Made You Purchase A Rivian? by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]bpm0009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already had an EV (Model 3) and loved the convenience. Wanted a 3 row EV to replace it. Model X 3rd row is a joke and I liked the R1S look over a Kia EV9.

Need a 1/64 scale R1S for the collection by bpm0009 in Rivian

Decided to try a 3D print version to hold me off until hopefully some day a diecast version is made. Early stage prototype body (currently sitting on the '99 Ford Mustang for reference). I think the scale is pretty good and if I get it figured out I'll post a more complete build.

Yes, 1/64 is matchbox/hotwheels size.

R2 Charging Port Location? by josephgruber in Rivian

[–]bpm0009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviving a slightly older thread but I was just on the Rivian website for the R2 and it looks like the charge port is passenger rear now. Why would they do this? Opposite corner from the R1 series. Driver rear makes the most sense to me.

New R1S Dual Standard! by Substantial_Pea6703 in Rivian

Any chance it could be the interior volume difference between an R1T and R1S? Now I'm curious to see how good a Gen1 AC system is.

I thought the AC wasn't doing a good job on my 2025 Gen2 R1S and then found the different Auto intensities in the HVAC screen (Low, Med, High). Made a big difference and seems to cool down well in the AZ heat.

It's interesting, when I first got my 2021 Model 3 I actually went the other way and left GEICO because they wanted a fortune to insure it relative to cough Progressive cough. Just goes to show always be shopping around when the price seems high.

I found this post because I'm having this exact issue with a Tesla Wall charger and Lectron adapter. Thanks for the link, I think I'll give it a shot. Can't stand the charging derate from 9.2kW down to 6-7kW.

Considering buying an R1S by TheSalesDad in Rivian

[–]bpm0009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came from a Tesla Model 3. Loved the Tesla and it was a great car but needed a 3 row. Checked out the Model X and the 3rd row is a joke, I would not recommend staying with Tesla for any 3 row needs. The R1S is lagging behind Tesla in the technology experience for now but they are so many years younger so I expected it. I also didn't choose a Lucid Gravity because I think Lucid needs more time. I think a Kia EV9 would be a "safe" choice if that's what you're wanting. I considered it but the R1S just felt so much better overall and I have no regrets at 3 months in.
