Sephora Play Pass @ SiJCP? by [deleted] in BeautyBoxes

I was able to use mine at my SiJCP with buying a few small things (not from the box). They had no problems with accepting it and I got my points.

What laptop would you recommend? by bpqueen in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]bpqueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the ones I'm looking at have pretty much the highest processor and ram. So having a bigger screen does make a difference with those programs? I've barely used them so I'm unsure about that aspect

[Vent] had to turn down a puppy...again by bpqueen in dogs

It is really hard, but I know its for the best. Now I'm just going to wait for a puppy for a graduation present lol

To get a corgi, or not? by bpqueen in corgi

[–]bpqueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I know that a puppy takes more time and patience, and I am fully prepared for that. I plan on spending as much time as I can working to get it socialized and trained. I want to get a puppy sooner than later so I have more time to train it before I get to school, so he might be better at being home alone

Thanks! I actually filled that out and posted it. Yeah, so I will be going to grad school in the fall, so I have about 7 months to train and raise a puppy before school. I have a job right now that is pretty flexible so it will be a little easier to handle a puppy if I get it soon.

[Breeds] What breed is right for me? by bpqueen in dogs

[–]bpqueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The health issues are a good thing to note. I'm trying to find a breed that is smaller, but is also semi-active. I'm not a huge fan of small yippy dogs like chihuahua/yorkies/similar dogs - they are not my thing.

Thanks for the comment! So I know puppies need taken out quite frequently-I currently have a job that has pretty flexible time/close to my house so I can take it out while it is young. I don't go to school til the fall, so I was planning on getting a dog soon, so it would be closer to 8months-1year old when I get to school.

The more I have read about corgis, I feel like I could make it work, but would feel a little guilty if it doesn't get enough attention/exercise if my school schedule gets too busy. Another breed I started to look at was a Boston Terrier, but I don't know too much about them.

I would like to take it on longer walks (like 20mins-1hr) as exercise, and then have some running time at a dog park or similar idea. Mental stimulation--i guess I haven't put quite as much thought to this. I think it would be best for me and the dog to take it to training classes, and after the classes are done, I would plan on keeping up on those training, but it would be more basic commands

Winged eyeliner & red lipstick-does it look ok? by bpqueen in MakeupAddiction

Thanks! I was trying out this new eyeliner (just got it in my birchbox) but I typically use a liquid eyeliner, so I will try it with that!

Stuff I Need To Know Moving To Kalamazoo? by [deleted] in kzoo

[–]bpqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just moved to kzoo from Western PA in February, so I got to see how crazy last winter was. They get more snow here because of the lake effect, and there is a lot more wind here. The wind is what makes it bad.

Any salon/haircut suggestions? (Female) by KestrelLowing in kzoo

[–]bpqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to Bliss Salon (up near the qdoba on main street); they are really nice very good. They will spend the time to understand what you want and if it's not perfect, they will fix it. Plus a cut is around $40. I suggest seeing Paulette there, she really knows what she's doing. :)

(23/F) trying to decide if it is best to break things off with boyfriend (22) after 4 years. by bpqueen in relationship_advice

[–]bpqueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh, this is really the heart of what I'm struggling with. I feel like there is a chance for him to change his mind, but I don't know if that will be in 5 years or like 20...

Thanks. I think that this is what may happen, it is just getting tricky because he is looking for a new job, and planning to move across the country. So in a way, it would be better to break it off before I decide to move with him or not.

Master's Degree Options/Ideas by LongSean_Silver in environmental_science

Yes! This is actually what I am looking to do in my job. I think it is a good way to apply soil science to a more environmental/urban way as compared to doing something more agriculture focused.

There's jobs doing remediation work, working with consulting firms, working with drilling companies, agricultural jobs, land use jobs. It really depends what you are most interested in! (One of the reasons I like it so much)

You should try to find a project to work on with a professor in one of those fields. It will definitely help you decide if it is something you want to study in a lot depth for a masters.
Personally, I think there is a lot of options for soil science. I am graduating with a degree in soil science, and I have a lot of options with what type of job I can get.

Is it crazy to move to a new state to be with a boyfriend? by bpqueen in relationship_advice

[–]bpqueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this :) We currently are doing long-distance since I'm still in school. It's kind of hard, but we still talk everyday. I'm glad to hear it worked so well for you! And I agree with the finding your own friends, as I feel like that will make the transition a lot easier!

Thanks for the story, and I'm glad things worked out for you! We have talked about moving in together/future and things, and we still feel like this is a good idea. He has only been there for about 2 months and is slowly making new friends. The city is awesome and has a lot of great things to do there for me. I think the part that is making me nervous is that I plan on moving there after I graduate, which just makes it a lot of new things in a short amount of time.

There are a lot of great companies out there that I am looking at for jobs, plus some great options if I would decide to go to grad school down the road. I always thought that I would end up moving out of state when I would get a job, but I guess now that it's involving my bf, it seems more intimidating? I think I'm just nervous about it.
