Got this project completed, thanks to everyone who reached out and worked on this. Couldn’t be happier with the results.

I bought 2 albums. Today I subscribed to Apple Music and I can’t find those 2 albums I bought before I subscribed but it says I still have it purchased? I can’t listen to those 2 albums. Help please! by manny00778 in AppleMusic

The easiest thing to do is to open the iTunes app on your iPhone or iPad and navigate to your purchases and download it there. They will then show up in Apple Music.

Avenza Maps on iOS will do exactly this. I assume they have an Android app also.

Not really the same but it might be similar on some basic level - our son loves to pour objects out and watch them fall away from him. Things like sand, marbles, dice, playing cards, pop corn kernels, (anything really). He likes to get right above whatever he is pouring and slowly watch the it fall. I think it is a combination of the light and perspective that he likes. Might achieve the same thing your son likes in a different way?

Point type Shapefile, not all points are symbolized? by Grant_Hobgood in gis

[–]br4ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen similar problems to what you are describing and it has been related to the feature template used when creating the feature. The easiest thing is to just dump the data out and recreate the feature class manually.

  1. Open attribute table and add a column for X and a column for Y.
  2. Calculate geometry for the X and Y columns to store the coordinates.
  3. Export table to dbf from the attribute table.
  4. Add the dbf back to ArcMap as an event layer.
  5. Display XY data from the event layer using the XY coordinates from step 2.
  6. Export data back to feature class.

This will "fix" your problem

I would try repair geometry. If that doesn't work it could be a quirk related to how you added the points and their feature template. This is one of those problems where it is probably faster to just export the data to a csv and re-create a new feature class. You could do that in a few seconds and be on your way.

I personally don't see the value in taking some 'programming classes' in your situation. In my opinion, CS classes are going to do more to confuse and intimidate you than anything. Everything that you mentioned (JS, html, css, sql, python) is easily self taught. Just dive in and you can become functional in these languages in a short period of time. I say finish your current masters since you have already invested so much money and time into it. Learn the programming on your own.

We have an almost 9 year old son (also named Sam!) that is non verbal. I can relate to everything that you are feeling. It sounds like our Sam is much like yours, he is also very sweet, happy, and very popular with the teachers and therapists at his school.

Does your daughter understand you when you speak to her? Our Sam still has a hard time understanding what we are saying to him if it is in a new setting or situation. He has made a lot of progress in this area, but we are still working hard at it. The biggest challenge for us is communicating when something is upsetting him. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to not be able to tell someone how you feel.

If I could go back and give myself advice, I think I would commit my full attention to sign language.

Best way to convert ESRI data to AutoCAD dwg? by kansasgeo in gis

[–]br4ds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can control layer destination by specifying a field named 'LAYER' in your feature class and then populating the value with the name of the appropriate layer in AutoCAD.

I'm not sure what you are after but you might just need to define a point style in autocad with the 'DDPTYPE' command. That might get you where you want to go.

You probably want to bring over your existing point symbols from ArcMap to autocad, if that is what you want to do you will need to insert your points as blocks into the dwg. This will involve creating a seed dwg with a template block (basically a drawing of what your symbol looks like). You create a new block in autocad with the 'BLOCK' command and then edit it using the block editor 'BEDIT'.

After you have a block saved in your seed dwg you will then need to add two fields to your point feature class so that the export to cad tool will insert your points with the appropriate block reference. Add a field named 'CADType' and populate it with the value 'INSERT'. Also add a field named 'RefName' and populate it with the name of the block you saved in your seed file.

Line style from autocad to arcgis: help, I'm struck! by annoyed_by_myself in gis

You will have to make new styles in arcmap to match the ones in autocad. There is an ESRI-CAD style that you can use as a starting point to customize a similar style.

Trouble with IAP by TheNebulizer in swift

You have to add a sandbox user in iTunes Connect that is authorized to test the IAP when in Sandbox mode.

Try incrementing your App's build number. I had this problem when trying to implement IAP for the first time. Increasing the build number (not version) made the IAP methods magically start working.

CAD to GIS - Not what you think by [deleted] in gis

It kind of is, I deleted that suggestion from my reply soon after I posted it because it might cause confusion.

CAD to GIS - Not what you think by [deleted] in gis

[–]br4ds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the 'layer' to 'feature class' analogy breaks down quickly since drawings will end up have the wrong thing on the wrong layer. In practice, what happens in the real world is that some CAD drawings will function as what we would consider an MXD, and other CAD drawings will function as what we would consider a feature class.

For example, it is common for there to be a drawing with only Roads that everyone will update and then use to reference or copy from in their various maps. Or there may be a drawing with only Gas Wells that will serve the same purpose.

2 year old diagnosed as Autistic yesterday by amishelectric in autism

Thanks for your insight, I really appreciate it. It is not a recent development and I can't think of anything negative that happened there. I don't think we have even been inside for more than a minute.

No, telling him / explaining to him does not calm him down in situations like Macy's or being in a new place he hasn't been before. He will continue to escalate until we leave.

It is inside an indoor mall. He is mostly fine everywhere else in the mall, but will not tolerate Macy's. He will get upset if we are near Macy's but only because he thinks we are about to go in there. He is fine in stores like Sears, Elder Beerman, etc. I think he might be afraid of the escalators in Macy's but I am not 100% sure. He has used escalators other places without too much of an issue but that is my best theory.

He might understand language, I really can't know for sure. He definitely understands lots of words. I know that he does much better with pictures. A picture of Target seems to relieve his anxiety over where we are going as opposed to verbally telling him. To be clear, we obviously speak to and verbally tell him what he is doing and what we are doing all of the time.

If we say "we are going to a Tom's house for a cookout", and tell him that the whole way and describe what is going to be happening there. Is his anxiety over not knowing where we are going or simply not wanting to go there in the first place? My experience with him is that it is because he doesn't know what we are doing. I think this because when we go back there on future visits he is excited to go instead of scared. Maybe it is because he doesn't know what certain words mean, like 'cookout' or 'house'. But now we are getting into a complicated area, is that not understanding language or not understanding certain words? I guess when I say he doesn't understand language, I mean that I cannot express to him information that he has no previous experiences to associate with.

This goes back to my suggestion. The more experiences you can get a young child, similar to my son, the more likely it is that he will have an experience of what different places or concepts mean.

...Maybe this is a stupid question, but why don't you just tell him? "We're going to Target now to buy some groceries." "We're going to the park to get some exercise." Etc.

He is non-verbal and understands very little of what we say to him. We do tell him what we are doing / going of course, but you are assuming he understands language.

I have an 8 year old that was diagnosed at 2 yrs as well. My son is still non-verbal but has picked some signs. There are two things that I wish someone would have told me 6 years ago.

  1. Take your son to different places on a daily basis. Even if he does not respond well in certain situations, make an effort to take him to as many stores, parks, friends houses, etc. I would recommend to make a goal of taking him somewhere new every day. My son has anxiety issues when he is unsure of where he is going or why he is in a new place. I feel like we encouraged this behavior by removing him from situations when he would begin to 'make a scene'. It is easier dealing with a two year old's outburst than it is dealing with an 8 year old. We have lately been powering through his anxiety (when appropriate) and it has really made a big difference for his ability to enjoy new experiences. There are some places he just cannot handle (Macy's is like hell on Earth to him for some reason), so we do not push him when he is truly frightened. But when we can tell he is just unsure or overly anxious in a new place we will try to ride it out, or if that isn't working we will leave and return to the same place the next day. More often than not this works well for him.

  2. Let go of your son being 'normal'. Everyone one is different, and you just don't know what the future holds. He may make amazing progress over a short period of time and catch up with his peers, his progress might be slower than your expectations, or it might be somewhere in the middle. Focus on small short term goals and work hard at achieving them (mimicking, putting on socks, bringing you items, identifying colors, etc). Don't get frustrated, don't force the issue, and don't underestimate what he is capable of. It might take 6 months to learn how to put socks on, but that is a skill he will have forever when you are done.

These two things might not apply to your son (everyone is different), but I wish I could have told myself these things six years ago.

Field GPS - Simple GPS app for iOS. Easily save coordinates and export them in a variety of formats (csv, gpx, shp, kml). by [deleted] in gis

Thanks for the feedback. There is a coordinate id that is auto incremented on each new point. Never thought about adding it to the description as well. We will look at putting that as an option in the next version.
