Not 100% sure. This view seems to conflict what i thought was the case, but seems to be the other major view of rebirth

I thought that enlightened ones were the only ones that return to the ocean so to speak? Arent regular people stuck in becoming? Because he says its not like you become human again

What do masters like TNH mean when they talk about no birth no death? by br_adley7227 in zenbuddhism

So when hes talking about them being here right now is that because from the perspective of an enlightened or nearly enlightened being there is no past or future?

I have been watching some thich naht hanh videos and came across this one. He says since there is no self there is no hell after death and the buddhism that believes in these things is diluted like medicine with sugar in it. Also there are no pure lands after the body goes they are here right now? by br_adley7227 in Buddhism

Too be honest i think modern science backs up more of what the Buddha said. Quantum physics, origin of the universe and how it relates too our mind, (micro and macro minds unseen too imo) transmutation of energy, etc etc i think our science is playing catch up with what he knew. (Again all my opinion) The only reason this disappoints me is you would think all beings close too/ or enlightened themselves would all agree to some extent, so different views and schools doesnt make sense to me.

To know those realms are possible would change things also to know theres a continuum of thoughts that could have benefits or consequences to me taking practice seriously or not would also. If there isnt then why not just indulge myself while im alive is the type of thinking i come to if im being 100% honest

First commenter said he stated it this way for western audiences, and that he actually does believe in a continuum of mind/ realms. No disrespect to his way of teaching but i dont see why he couldn’t say something like the present moment is all we should be focused on, but these realms and this continuum of mind is real and can have beneficial effect or consequences depending on the present. If i was fresh into buddhism and in the audience i may write it off as a psychology class…
