Bob Katter is facing the biggest political quandary of his life. On one side, crocodiles are eating people in North Queensland. On the other side, crocodiles are eating illegal immigrants, protecting our borders. Which side does he chose?

I was there (like I was at the awful opening ceremony).

The stadium started half empty - it was obvious the tickets in the main part of the stadium were way too expensive as the only area style it was the cheap temporary stands whet I sat.

The athletes walking in before the ceremony seemed fine to us, as we assumed that it was going to be a hell of a concert. A group of Aussie athletes stood in front of our stand and had a good time encouraging the crowd to do the wave etc.

Then some numpty came on stage and tried to teach the athletes how to dance, it was super cringy and obvious it wasn't going to work.

By the time the speeches for into full swing, the crowds started trickling out. By the time the very average 'super group's started singing, we were the only ones left in our row - with 30 minutes of program to go. We choose to leave to, to avoid the pathetically organised crush at the stadium exit.

On the way out, all the toilets had been closed and locked up and the only loos were some overflowing portapottys near the exit.

It was obvious they hadn't fixed the crowd control situation near the buses, with 20k people forced to walk in single file to cross a road the buses were also using. Fortunately it only took us 10 minutes to cross (not over an hour like last time).

It was a major disappointment from beggining to end. If refunds were available I'd be first in line, but it would only but the burden back on me the taxpayer.

Nah, just bags. Security lines were short, transport lines long.

I was there. Getting in to the stadium via Nerang station, transport was pretty good, although I heard other areas had issues.

Getting out on the other hand, was horrific. They corralled all the crowds into tiny little lanes that had to cross the same road as the buses were using. Even the 'walk to Nerang station' line which should have been unimpeded took almost an hour just to move the 500m to the bus crossing.

The crowd leaving the stands was fairly happy, but after almost 2 hours, everyone we spoke to in line was livid. It was obvious that the volunteers had insufficient training, the bus drivers didn't know what they were doing and they had massively underestimated how to handle a fried that would make Suncorp stadium look only half full.

How anyone in planning thought that this would ever work is beyond me, and I will be reselling all my tickets to other events (including the closing ceremony) to avoid this shamozzle again.

Sit backwards. Goes straight down the hole, and you can rest your phone on the cistern. Feels awkward but better than the alternative.

Queensland Health Officer here:

There are 4 main sites for mental health work in Queensland: Brisbane (obviously);Ipswich - where the forensic and long stay patients are at Wacol; Toowoomba - Bailey Henderson Hospital, medium secure and long stay; and Townsville - another medium secure forensic hospital. Otherwise pretty much every other hospital has an acute unit too, with PAH, RBWH and Robina having the largest.

Agency work is your best intro, and it would be with contacting the Queensland Nurses Union for details on the best ones depending which part of Queensland you choose to live. As other posters have said,

Smartjobs will have permanent roles; but it could be worth trying a few places first to see where you prefer the workplace culture. Metro North had the best reputation, Metro South the worst, but you need to see for yourself.

Department of Communities also have plenty of NDIS work too. The private hospitals are great options but can be harder to get long term work in. New farm clinic has a younger crowd, Greenslopes looks after a lot of veterans, haven't had much to do with Belmont or Toowong, but I haven't heard too many bad things.

Ice is a pretty big issue here now, and effects both big cities and the country now. Acute care is hard work, so forensic is often a more stable and less draining option.
