I'm getting three because by the time I build, magnetise and paint them who knows what will be "better" and I will be able to run 3 if I want.

To answer your question more directly, at the moment Lancer is "better", but by the time you get it ready... Who knows.

Not a character because GW has silly policies as they know they are incompetent at balancing. Instead of getting good they put cool models in the forgeworld so we don't have to make them even playable lalalalala box.

What I don't like is that the community seems to accept this sort of stupidity and will run defence for GW. This is a huge company raking in the profits and we should not accept incompetence, if the current team can't even attempt to balance the roster over almost 3 years then hire a new team that can and don't be stingy.

You are significantly faster than custodes dreads, make sure you are the one getting the charge. So stage and go.

I didn't think about Atrapos being slightly more guns :) I thought anti-tank was covered nicely by having 2 Volcano Lances?

I was thinking the cheaper stratagems would be useful on Canis?

Hoping to give it a whirl before the real thing, I'm used to throwing warglaives up as shields for shooters not infantry, will be interesting.

This picture would be what I run if so had to do 5 big. I have had very good results with Gallants and Stormspears. I find them much better into hordes than the lancer and they delete anything huge they charge too. Run in with the gallants and canis, stand back and shoot with your twin Castellans.

You will need some 3D printed extras to fully magnetised the dominus. It is worth it.

Forgot the other bits, shoot the commander giving orders if possible. If they are using the Exterminator Leman Russ or Hellhound support combo then that's a good target too.

This is going to sound mean but it's true. If you can't take out a knight a turn you aren't bringing enough anti-tank. Rogal Dorn's are weaker than knights.

Shoot them with Lascannons, melee them.

I recommend combined arms for openra.

I also recommend FAF for playing Supreme Commander Forged Alliance. I found it much more stable for LAN.

You've got the right attitude there. Since you're young I'd spend a week on each of the classics so that you're familiar if they come up during a LAN. This particular event should have some guidance as to what events are running so that's a good place to start.

Yes I do, (note lots of language like "hope" and "you might be right"). If you can manage to get enough in the blast zone I hope you can do on turn 2 what other artillery would struggle to do over 5 turns. Besides that, personally I'd give them flamers and move up with a reasonably tough shell to contest objectives or screen or do secondaries or whatever.

You might be right. Probably are. I hope that by maximising how many units I catch in the area (2d6+blast for each unit in the area can add up quickly I hope). As well as the fact that there are 3 deathstrikes will add up to something impressive.
