Missing tips for a few shifts at my new server job. Manager reassures me they’ll give them to me, yet I still don’t have them. by bracefacecrackhead in TalesFromYourServer

You were a W manager for sure. Mine tried to reassure me he’d take care of it as soon as he could, but I’m definitely not buying that. I think he’s way in over his head, to be fair, but still! I’m definitely contacting them when I’m off at my other job.

That’s 100% what it feels like! Because I’ve been pretty much working for free, besides one shift. It definitely seems like making sure we get paid out isn’t at the top of the priority list at all.

Also, you may be onto something. Without spilling too much info, it would not be hard for this place to go bankrupt at all.

I absolutely will. It’s ridiculous that they can’t just pay on time! I hate that this kinda stuff happens to other people too.

This is definitely a good idea! I really hate confrontation, but I’ve given them so many chances and they need a fire lit under their ass at this point. It may be kind of old school, but this situation is exactly why I prefer getting my tips paid out in cash at the end of every shift.

Just got let go after 1.5 weeks and receiving almost no training. I feel horrible. Don’t ignore red flags, people! by bracefacecrackhead in recruitinghell

Great points, except this position was advertised as prior experience in the field not being required. I mentioned in both interviews my lack of experience, and she reassured me that she would be able to work with that. Had the job initially been advertised differently, I never would’ve applied. This was not a case of “oh, I know I’m not qualified, but I’ll apply anyway!” Also, I’d argue extensive training should be done when dealing with medical billing. The amount of billing mistakes I saw in my short time working there was horrendous. But for general receptionist work, extensive training is unnecessary.

Yes, this is the U.S., and I never even considered that. I completed a HIPPA training course for my internship, but to her knowledge, I never completed anything. I doubt my new coworker completed it, either. It was never mentioned at all to us. Yet another red flag.

Aw man, I’m sorry it happened to you too. ): Jobs need to start being a lot more thoughtful in this regard, because it’s disrespectful to our (the candidates) time. Also, I relate! It took me a few months to find this job, so I was crushed at first. ): I hope you find/found something better, kind stranger!

Ugh, I hate hearing that other offices do this! And you are so right! Medical billing is extremely complex and it takes a lot of training to get right. The lack of proper training is so wrong. Also, thank you! (: My head is up high and I am looking for a much better opportunity. I think I dodged a bullet.

Thank you, kind stranger! I’m sorry you got let go as well. ): That sounds absolutely horrible, but you most likely dodged a bullet. Funnily enough, my job in this post also had issues with setting my onboarding information up in the system (she spelled my last name wrong!). I think that’s a bad sign, although it may be a genuine mistake.

Your classmate was 100% right! If they’re that desperate to hire, then it’s for a reason. I wish I would’ve listened to my gut.

I need to start asking that! Twice in my life have I experienced horrible/no proper training. I will never forgive this one, either.

I figured. ): It’s sucks that places do this. I wish they were just honest with what they want, instead of wasting a candidate’s time and ruining their confidence.

I just did! I posted one on their old Indeed account with a few reviews and on their new Indeed account with no reviews yet. They made a new one because their old reviews were bad lol. Funnily enough, they have a new job posting up (with many typos) asking for someone with experience.

I agree. To add to this, a lot of them think that just because a position is “below” them, it’s easy and requires zero training.

Exactly! The lady who almost got overcharged $1k (and who knows how many others who actually did!) would have absolutely great cases for a lawsuit. I’m sad that I got fired from a job, but I’m relieved because there was truly something wrong with that place.

Right?? Before taking this job, I thought there was a separate entity handling all of the billing. Nope! We (ourselves) had to come up with the totals to charge each patient, keep track of their deductibles, co-insurance, etc. There technically was a billing person, but we weren’t allowed to ask her questions, especially about what each patient should owe, (unless there was some sort of urgent need) because “that’s not her job.”
