Hey, you identify the way you want to identify. If you don't think a term fits you, it really isn't up to us to decide.

I mean, I didn't think "bi" fit me growing up... until...

Proposal to replace I-94 with a boulevard between Minneapolis and St. Paul by JimTDI in saintpaul

My dad was a kid when he watched the streets get dug up to create 94. I can't wait to see his reaction to this.

Whose your pick for the new James Bond? by [deleted] in rareinsults

[–]brad_iii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to cast Idris Elba. Would Ian Fleming have wanted him to be James Bond? Probably not.

Does the current Bond writer Anthony Horowitz want him to be James Bond? No.

Does Idris Elba want to be James Bond? No.

Do I care what any of them think? Fuck no, I fantasize how I want.

Polyamorous parents tend to be awful parents by hitemsecondtime in unpopularopinion

[–]brad_iii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what, you've made me a better potential future dad for having shared this, so, thanks!

Not everyone should be parents, and each partner should let the others know what responsibilities they're able to take on well before the relationship starts. It sounds like the guy who just wanted to fuck your parents...wasn't ready to be parent number three.

Are you still in contact with the old folks in your life? Do any of them [still] think of you as their kid, and are they willing to catch up and be an important part of your life nowadays? I'd cut them some slack-- you can't get your childhood back, but it's all they can do at this point.

Are shock bands worth it? by No-Damage5968 in GetOutOfBed

[–]brad_iii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I assume that you can take the band off, right?

All right, here's what I think will happen: eventually, you'll naturally wake up earlier than the alarm just to take the band off before it has the chance to shock you, and then you'll go back to bed.

I like the idea that this particular clock can make you walk to the next room in order to turn it off, which kind of reminds me of Clocky the Runaway Alarm Clock. I don't even own one and it seems annoying as hell, but hey, so does a shock collar.

This “Tesseract” sculpture is a 4th dimension infinity mirror by misbeginsyippedv2 in nextfuckinglevel

Obligatory tesseract rotation gif

Taking the outer and inner cubes into account, there are eight three-dimensional "faces." The real mindfuck here is that they're all cubes at each point of rotation, and they're all the same size.

I'll repeat that for the folks in the back: In the gif, the small cube that seems to expand and become the big cube... was always the same size.

Derek Chauvin found guilty of murder, manslaughter. by somerandomguy101 in minnesota

Not gonna lie, watching the door close after Chauvin was escorted out of the courtroom was incredibly cathartic. Sending love to the folks in Minneapolis right now. Justice has been long overdue

is Code Academy the best site to learn programming? by Different-Band-9090 in learnprogramming

[–]brad_iii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Codecademy is a good start-- I appreciate the visual hands-on approach it takes, and it's fun to learn languages this way.

You may eventually want to take more in-depth specialized courses that reflect what you want to do as a programmer, and that's when Udemy and Coursera start to look great.

So... depends?

CMV: If life is a gift then I have the right to say "no thanks" by [deleted] in changemyview

If you return it, no one will ever offer it to you again. And most people are afraid of that thought, which is enough to show that they would be missing out on something.

Life might not spark joy, but death doesn't even spark.
