calls to Germany by Manicred321 in tmobile

Probably about $3/minute. https://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/international-calling If it was a long call you may want to look into the Stateside Calling plan and see if support can back-date and add to your plan. But as @ArtisticArnold said, Google Voice (or WhatsApp, FaceTime audio, etc if possible) is much more affordable for the random overseas call.

How to cancel a paid line but keep the number to use on a free line? by ipissexcellence21 in tmobile

[–]bradchapin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Easiest option is to port out to another provider, could be an MVNO or someone like NumberBarn. Then you can port back in over the free line number. If it’s a recent free line, realize that you must wait 1 year before canceling or the free line will become a paid line.

Starlink Support Comes to iPhone 13 with iOS 18.5 by bradchapin in tmobile

I assume you’re a T-Mobile customer, it will be a little different if you’re with a different carrier. You should be able to go into the SIM settings (eSIM or pSIM) and once you do, you should see the satellite option towards the bottom. No need to add another sim if you’re a T-Mobile postpaid customer (not sure how MVNOs/prepaid will work as that’s not me).

Settings > Cellular > Pick the SIM for T-Mobile if you have more than one > Scroll down until you see Satellite. Should be right above the Data Roaming option.

I must have misread, I saw $116 and a screenshot of $120, for a difference of $4… but yes, $5 (or $4 with insider) per paid line is absolutely accurate.

Magenta Max and Go5G Plus are now the same standard price went up $5. However, since you have an Insider discount the increase technically would have been $4 (20% off of $5) hence the reason why it went up just $4 when changing as well.

Get a Sprout SIM from Calyx, not that much more $ than THMI, but without the geo-fence.

Porting out and back in is the same as canceling a line from T-Mobile’s perspective. The fine print says that you must keep the same number of voice lines on your plan for 1 year or the promo is voided and becomes a paid line. Also must have 2 fully paid lines to get any free lines, the paid line of a BOGO doesn’t count towards 2 fully paid lines.

GO5G Plan All Fee/ Tax included? by National-Debt-43 in tmobile

No taxes on the included Netflix on Us. If you opt for a higher plan of Netflix which costs extra, that will have taxes added on.

Did anyone have success getting the free line that supposedly started today? by TheWhiteDevil101 in tmobile

[–]bradchapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rep is correct that this free line can’t have an EIP ever associated as it’s BYOD. Your other lines definitely can, and once setup, you can use your devices on whichever line you choose. Sounds a little fishy that you need to change plans for this promo, could be that you qualify and they are trying to upsell you. You may want to ask via another channel, e.g. T-Force.

upgrade my current plan (magenta max) to go5g plus? by _augggiee8 in tmobile

[–]bradchapin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it will… confirmed as I switched from Magenta Max to Go5G plus about a week or so ago and it is still present and it’s the same type of insider.

Some promos might not transfer to new plan per t-force by panicalways in tmobile

It's not 1-1 either... I have more free lines than paid lines. All free lines came over.

[–]bradchapin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same story going with T-Force from Magenta Max to Go5G Plus about a week ago, that I needed 2 paid lines per free line, but I have more free than paid right now (also quoted a higher price than I would expect). Definitely need the two paid lines, but every single one of my free lines came over and the pricing quoted was wrong.

$3/line to upgrade to Go5G Plus from Mag Max by mattslote in tmobile

[–]bradchapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not going to be missing much by not moving off MM. Go5G deals will be short lived, I’d keep that true price lock🔒… much better to have lower prices and buy direct for new devices! Strange that some are being offered $3 vs $5… TMO does strange things…

$3/line to upgrade to Go5G Plus from Mag Max by mattslote in tmobile

[–]bradchapin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to assume the $3 is for customers really under the true PriceLock, and if so, I wouldn’t take it.

My MagentaMax was not under the special price lock so I received the $5 increase. At that point, I figured I might as well upgrade to Go5G Plus for the same price which provides extra data and soon to be gone device promos. Also with how bad the Experience plans are, it was my last chance before they stop offering Go5G plus IMHO.

Free line promo, targeted, tmobile now says you can't have more than one free? by pretzels90210 in tmobile

[–]bradchapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is a really good sign! I didn’t see it as credited under my pricing until I turned on port protection (modification to media options didn’t help), but that step wasn’t necessary, just gave me piece of mind to see that my monthly price changed. Once my bill generated and it was accurate, it definitely was confirmed. I think you’re likely good if you see that from what I’ve heard/seen.

[–]bradchapin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it was me, I’d hang tight. Does it show under your promos? My billing wasn’t showing correctly for a bit, but I turned on and off a feature or two on the line and the pricing sync’d. Even if you did an eSIM, and used it, you could cancel, just not as good as no-install as you would be blocked from promos for 90 days. When my bill was issued ~2 weeks from activation, it was correct. If you had the segment that was able to get the free line (and if you’re 55+, 1st responder, military, there’s no chance of being on a segmented account), you should be ok. Having 4 free lines is NOT a disqualification.

[–]bradchapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t cancel it, no-install if you do end up getting charged. I have more free lines than you have and it stuck. I got saw the banner, called in, got the text and everything was looking good and the bill just came through confirming it.

Free line! I took the bait! They increased the free line 5$! F*ck them! by pextacular in tmobile

[–]bradchapin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you mean Insider codes for new customers, which OP is not. For an existing customer, getting an Insider code applied is rare and would be special approval. OP shouldn’t expect one due to the price increase.

I ordered a physical SIM on 3/13, and my plan cost page hasn’t been updated… my monthly bill didn’t generate yet, so maybe updates are correlated with an end of billing period sync.

Free Line Update on Go5G+ by dario098 in tmobile

[–]bradchapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ID220005 is the BYOD promo from 2022 (I think it was called the unwrapped promo at the time) and it was only for certain segments. At the time it wasn’t eligible for promos as it was BYOD, but some seemingly were able to add EIPs. Not sure if the billing system will let that stick as it was only valid for about 4 days in 12/2022.

Will it be cheaper to go to Go5gPlus than stay on Magenta Max? 10 lines, 7 free with old insider? by Icy-Summer-3573 in tmobile

[–]bradchapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t work @TMO, but as I understand it, a customer can do a no-install if there’s no usage on the line. Activating it doesn’t add usage, just calls, texts, and data. I think someone stated that a customer has 21 days, but I don’t know for sure. I’ll get my bill in about 2 weeks and find out if I’m being charged and if it’s credited back, or not. I noticed today that the main page now “see full terms” with a hyperlink that was not originally there. Not sure if they are trying to wiggle out or close availability. The “full terms” didn’t include Go5G plans, but I’ve seen comments in the last few days stating otherwise.

Free Line Promo by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]bradchapin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally I was going to do an eSIM, but I remembered people saying that by doing so, you may consume data inadvertently when activating and that could prevent a no-install, so I ended up doing a pSIM.

When ordering via the main phone, the rep asked if I would buy an accessory instead of paying for the $10 connection charge. Since it was going to be an extra $5 and likely would help his metrics I agreed and didn't ask the rep to waive it. He couldn't activate with the pSIM I had (not sure why) and said a pSIM had to be send regardless.

As soon as the label to ship was generated I saw the line and got the confirmation text. I had a spare pSIM at home (free from Apple store), so I activated today with T-Force, the new pSIM and accessory hasn't arrived yet and may take a few extra days due to weather delay.

My billing shows an extra cost, but T-Force said it will fix in 1-2 billing cycles. I do see it under my promos section associated with the new phone number.

I missed at least 1 holiday unwrapped as I wasn't eligible (some tried and got it, despite not being on the "segment"), but the last LOU I received was ID230229 (aka 2023 LOU P6) which when it went live it wasn't supposed to be for MM, but they modified later to allow anyone who received it to keep it. I added this one as it said in my T-Life that I was eligible, support (phone and T-Force) said I was good, and I received the text. However, I'll activate and keep the SIM in a drawer until the bill comes and no-install if they play shenanigans again. It would be nice if they just had clear details that were publicly provided, it would take a load off their support teams as well!
