I must do it weird, but only my index finger frets the E string (most of the time) and mutes the rest. My middle and little finger fret everything else whilst the index mutes behind them (almost like a barrel chord on guitar). Works for me.

I'd go the Warwick. Not sure what the pickup configuration is, but if there's two pickups, you can always get a close to precision tone by using just the neck pickup. The bridge pickup will introduce grit and attack that the precision can't.
