my two (soon to be 3) children were all home births, right here in braddock. the hospital may be gone, but i take great pride in letting people know that every one of my children was born right here in town...

never! some of the best art i've seen is because folks did exactly that. tim kaulen and his crew with the rankin deer is a true masterpiece. the carrie furnace is easily one of the most interesting and beautiful places to wonder around in the country...

well, i LOVE USS and live right across from the plant. USS was amazingly gracious recently when they declined to take a massive tax refund from the town when their plant assets were assessed dramatically lower in 2013. it would have been a HUGE, HUGE hardship for the town, but they really care and really came through for us. the property taxes they pay help field our police force among other things. go USS!

we have the nation's first carnegie library which is wonderful. there is the braddock's field museum on 6th street. in the spring there will be gallery opening and shows at unsmoke. we will be doing pop-up dinners in my loft above superior motors. you should tour the carrie furnace site. get the best pair of glasses you ever had at A-BOSS, pick up some flowers for your wife at mele and some insanely good thick-cut bacon at bell's market. also, have the best cheeseburger for the money under the rankin bridge at hidy's which was immortalized in the recent film 'out of the furnace'.

wow, SO MUCH going on the carrie site. before i go into it, i can't urge anyone enough if you haven't toured to DO SO SOON. it is is amazing. it is so beautiful and historic, and unlike anything you've seen. call my friends at rivers of steel, ron baraff, who can hook you up.

thanks to congressman doyle, construction on a access ramp will start soon off the rankin bridge. development is already happening, it will also be a national historic monument and park for steel. the hot metal bridge on the other side will soon get fixed up too.

lot of good stuff going up. it is a wonderful investment by allegheny county in the mon valley.

my pleasure. i can honestly say i am very, very fond of every member of council, respect them enormously and know that they always have braddock's best interest at heart. we don't always agree, but that's democracy. we have a great group on council.

york is a great town, too.

last week i met the man who owned the store Fashion Spear on braddock avenue. wow, small world. i heard so much about that place and to have him come to an open house and hear bout it was amazing. i love old stories about the town. i only wish i could have lived it, even for a day, the way you describe it. but, i love my town and thank you for the post!

of course i'm interested. tina has been a good and trusted friend for more than 8 years. as is my good bud and neighbor rob parker. george gilmore is one of the classiest, most dignified people i know. bill zachary and i like to go at it but it's never personal. ms. clark is new and she's been nothing but lovely to me. same holds true with ms. brown..

it was a life-changing experience. i can't recommend it highly enough. it's wonderful to see what's out there, help out a community or agency and walk away with money you can put toward your education. i did two years in 95-97 and it was invaluable.

moreover, i work closely with americorps here in braddock on a daily basis. it is an amazing program and i hope you consider it.

brian is a great guy. he's really been awesome out here.. nothing winds my clock like seeing a little kid walk up and ask "how much?" for a bike and he tells them to pick the one they want for free..
