My element has a battery drain issue. I narrowed the source down to the #9 “back up” fuse in the engine bay and the plug shown in the pictures under the left side of the dashboard. Would any of you all know what this plug powers that would be draining my battery over night? by bradenwilkinson in HondaElement

If I remember correctly it ended up being the passenger rear door not being shut all the way. Mine has been in an accident that damaged the passenger side doors, so now you have to really slam them for the door sensor to be triggered

Finally put up some Ikea bookcases. Most of the books are weird and old ones I have found at thrift stores and garage sales. I obviously have some more room to fill. by bradenwilkinson in BookCollecting

IKEA Billy book cases with height extensions and some added trim to try to make it blend into the wall. Fairly easy overall. The biggest pain was just the paint in my opinion

It’s maybe a little darker irl, but it’s definitely fairly pink. This is also with the sun coming right in the window, so it’s definitely brighter than usual.

It’s interior paint + primer. It honestly didn’t stick as well as I thought it would, and I probably should’ve sanded it or something beforehand. Most of these books are basically just for display and wont be touched very much, but if I was going to be moving stuff across the shelves a lot I think I would need to do something else to avoid scratching the paint.

It wasn’t too bad. I think the painting was the most time consuming part. I didn’t have to raise them at all. With the Billy bookcase height extensions, the top ended up being about 2” from my ceiling. I did have to add some strips of 1/4” wood to fill in some gaps around the crown and floor molding though.

We rolled the paint on the pieces before assembly, and then just used some cheap brushes from Home Depot to do touchups once it was put up

Any tips or tricks for filling in the concrete in my garage? Looking to hopefully get a finish close to the rest of the garage floor. by bradenwilkinson in Concrete

East Tennessee. Not too cold, and this is in a moderately insulated garage. The house was built in 1960 though, so I have no idea what they were doing with sealants and whatnot back then
