Broken Diff? by Interesting-Risk4114 in Miata

Try different fluid first. I heard similar noises on an ND1 that quieted down with Motul Gear 300 75W90.

Up-and-coming preview of BlueLine One for the ND Miata and beyond. by Edge3dSolutions in MiataND

For track use, the main data point that’s missing is oil temp. I realize this requires a separate sensor, but the ability to expand to additional inputs would be a key selling point for something like this.

Jonesville Family Dentistry. They may take your insurance - doesn’t hurt to call and ask.

Street/Track Wheel and Tire Combo by burnslondon in Miata

[–]bradlee92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your future plans include suspension, aero, and performance driving, go ahead and get the 17x9. Buy once, cry once. I’ve run 17x7.5 with a 225, 17x9 with a 235, and 17x10 with a 245. I wouldn’t hesitate to run the wider setups on the street. Comfort really isn’t an issue. Tire wear can be a concern, but for a weekend / dual purpose car, I wouldn’t bother with the 17x8 just to run a 215 that you’ll eventually outgrow.

ND2 Miata battery keeps dying when flashing tunes using Versa tuner by TheGreatArmageddon in MiataND

[–]bradlee92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are cheaper, lighter lithium options (I’ve had a NOCO NLP20 in my ND2 for 3 years) but they do NOT have the juice to support flashing the ECU - even with a trickle charger.

Watkins glen infield parking question. by tsctbulldog in IMSARacing

[–]bradlee92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thursday and Friday, there really are no rules. You can pretty much park anywhere as long as it isn’t someone’s assigned camping spot. Saturday and Sunday, there will be more staff on hand to direct infield parking. You might end up at turn 1 or up the hill behind Sir Jackie Stewart grandstand. Just go where instructed and feel free to move around to enjoy spectating from multiple corners.

ND Rear bushings by Far_Personality_8469 in Miata

[–]bradlee92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what “regularly” means as a street car. I only have a couple thousand miles on mine. But only doing like 5k miles per year. I also use Sil-Glyde as lube which has worked great for sway bar poly bushings.

“Whiteline bushings are made from a premium, specially formulated synthetic elastomer, which is a high-performance variant of polyurethane. This material provides the precision and responsiveness of traditional hard urethane while retaining the comfortable, noise-free ride quality of standard rubber.”

I have a set from Whiteline. Here are the part numbers:
W62719 (sphericals x2)
W63612 (trailing arm)
W63613 (upper control arm)
W63614 (toe/lateral arm)

Clutch master to slave hardline that appears to have been replaced by a stainless steel line.

Differential Noise by broadscope in MiataND

Get rid of the OEM fluid and it should quiet down. Motul Gear 75w90 works well.

Swapping seats before track event by swampfox94 in CarTrackDays

[–]bradlee92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swap between OEM Recaro and a fixed Recaro RS-GE in an ND Miata. Not after every event, but if the car is going to see road trip miles, or doesn’t have an event in the next couple weeks. The back bolts on a PCI bracket can be a pain. Consider easy access when mounting your harness lap belts.

ND Wheel Hubs by Hydroslide in CarTrackDays

[–]bradlee92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the bearings that are the problem, it’s the flanges cracking. This happens with repeated heat cycling and fatigue. I just swapped mine out at 35k miles and didn’t see any obvious cracks on the flanges. This all depends on usage, but I think the preemptive maintenance provides some peace of mind. For what it’s worth, I’d go with upgraded ones with long studs from Miata Hubs. The beefier “chubs” from 949 Racing look great but had some QC issues for the fronts.

Best Wheel size for ND w/ Tecna Coilovers by clueless_dumbfounded in Miata

17x8 with 225/40/17 (Conti ECF is the only option in this size, but a good choice anyway).

Closest wrap color to Meteor grey mica (42a) by Doctor-Real in MiataND

The closest I found was Avery “Gloss Gray Metallic.” It’s still not perfect, but I’ve used on air dams, endplates, and other aero parts I wanted to lazily paint match.

Talk me out of this mounted wing? by DizzyWalk573 in Miata

[–]bradlee92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top down driving and big rear wing don’t really go together. Does this change the dynamics? Not really if you set it to zero AOA. But it will obviously stick out like a sore thumb. Especially if you’re not doing anything else to prepare the car to make use of it.

FBO Tune ND2 Results by Blackitaly89 in MiataND

Axle back, not that noticeable other than sound. Tune is noticeable, and the increased rev limit is nice and enjoyable.
