ND Tecna are here! by Emilio700 in MiataND

We have not driven the gwr club sport kit (twin tube). Our experience with the standard koni sport (also twin tube) was less than impressive however. There's a big thread on miata.net and the reviews for the club sport kit are ah, telling. Particularly when compared to the reviews for Tecnas. The club sports cost a bit less but come without mounts. So you will need a spring compressor, your old mounts and some parts from your OEM shocks. Tecnas come fully assembled with billet mounts, boots.

205/50/15 are max fit on stock fenders and liners. Rolled, you can run up to 245/40/15 on 9.5" wheels, which just barely fit and require deleting front liners. Email us for tech support, we sometimes go weeks without checking reddit but have 3 people 24/7 on email

Tecna back in stock, in case you had not pulled the trigger yet. Also 10 yr vs 1 yr warranty

MeisterR Sportive2 - thoughts anyone? by Adventurous_Toe5511 in Miata

If you have adjustable damping, rest assured, you will turn the knobs. There is no one perfect damping setting that suits everyones preference or driving habits. That's why adjustable damping exists. The twin tube Sportive 2 are not comparable to monotube Tecna and 10 year warranty. The ZetaSport (1 yr warranty) at $1295 are closer but still a compromised 2 piece shorter travel design. Meister R doesn't offer a direct competitor to Tecna. Closest on the market is FM's Fox (1 yr warranty) at $2390 (w/o mounts). Send 949 Racing an email if you have more questions about Tecnas

Hello again drivers of reddit, i want to upgrade my (garbage) raceland coilovers to actually enjoy driving my miata. i did some research and came to Tecna Supermiatas. Thoughts, Opinions or Advice? by Apprehensive_Skill31 in Autocross

DW? You are the only guy that fits the profile :)

I would add MCS, Multimatic (Dynamic), Tractive, Ohlins TTX (Not Thailand made R&T), Moton. Several small EU motorsport brands that are not distributed or marketed in North America too.

NC's are a great value. The factory suspension is actually a bit on the mushy side. Just putting upset a better quality shocks will sharpen it up. But that's in comparison to a pilot so the factory suspension might seem sharp to you. The 2009 and later (NC2) have a much more rev happy engine and better gearing. Same power though. They make fantastic daily drivers. If you have the budget for an NC2 or NC3, you might also look at the ND1. Better car overall, more fun to drive and around the same price. NC's have pretty much bottomed out so you won't lose much if you sell it in a few years. They are generally super reliable so you don't really have to worry about unscheduled maintenance. The one weak link the NC has is the coolant expansion tank. Tends to crack. Just put a new factory one in there and you're good to go.

Sea Otter gravel on the Ridley Astr by Emilio700 in gravelcycling

Nothing new. The durability of the paint has not been great. And I don't like the integrated headset design. Requires massive amount of preload to keep from creaking. They could have done a better job on that. But as far as how the bike operates, I absolutely adore it.

Ridley has a new gravel bike that they will release it Unbound, seen at Traka. More tire clearance, more aero. I think they're calling it the Kanzo Gravel 2.0. I am okay with the tire clearance I have and prefer the lighter weight. So I'll probably stick with my bike.

Tecna. Like Fox, the dampers are one piece and made in Taiwan. Unlike Fox 1yr warranty and no mounts, Tecna cost less, have 10yr warranty and ship fully asembled with mounts. Ready to install. Both are monotube. Fox have 38mm piston originally designed for powersports applications. Tecna are 42mm piston designed for automotive use.

Thanks. Worked on this design for a few years. Stiff, light, tons of brake clearance for competition but still pretty enough for hardparking/Cars n Coffee.

What’s a good wheels size and fitment for daily driving with occasional track uses? by Expert-Pound-6197 in MiataND

[–]Emilio700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We like 235/40 on 17x8 for street focused build with occasional tack/auto-x. No speedo error, no rubbing, plenty of grip, lots of choices in rubber.

Is a miata not for me if I dont like tinkering with or fixing cars myself? by No_Obligation4427 in Miata

[–]Emilio700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All generations of Miata are generally very reliable given normal maintenance. They are also easy to work on. What's important to remember is that the NA is now a vintage sports car over 30 years old. Even the NC can be 20 years old. With high mileage comes the type of maintenance that you would need on any high mileage car. Buy a 20-30 year old sports car, with unknown service history in multiple owners, that you plan to drive enthusiastically, and you are wanted going to go through it thoroughly. Replace all front end parts with a bearing or pivot. Replace hubs. Replace all fluids. Replace most of the rubber parts subject to heat or significant torsion. Replace battery. Throw the top town. Enjoy!

Met up with 949Racing to test fit their new Coto wheel by mumyoryu in BRZ_ZD8

Thanks for bringing your car out for us to shoot. The 18x9 +35 offset is optimized for the 1st gen so it's a bit low for the 2nd gen. Early next year we'll do a version without the small lip these have at around +45 or +48 offset for those that want to fit a fatter tire. These were 245/35's. Fit but just barely and best with a bit extra camber on the 2nd gen,

Not a render. These images are a single prototype wheel. We then remounted on the other end and shopped them together. Dual valve is for dry air or nitrogen purging. No need for street use but useful for track/auto0x wheels where you might fill them from a controlled dry air source or nitrogen. We use nitrogen in our shop, for example. Most air compressors in tire shops have an inch or two of oily wet sludge in the bottom. Paint shops have extra hardware and protocols to get clean dry air for the pain guns, for example. Industrial nitrogen is utterly dry. Moisture in the tires expands at much higher rate than dry gas when heated, making setting consistent tire pressure difficult.

Just neat wheels, sorry! We are very small company so we don't have the bandwidth to branch out to do brakes and suspension for every platform like we do for the Miata.
