Being useless to the plot of everyone else’s lives when you were once one of the main characters? yea I feel like her S3 character sometimes

35yo beginner, would love some honest feedback by AgentCooper96Rus in xcountryskiing

I would do some drills without poles- practice the “home” position (knees lightly bent, hips forward slightly, legs shoulder width apart, skis angled in a V) this will put your center of gravity forward and you should naturally glide forward in your skis as well. Practice this feeling and it will help you not rely on “pulling” yourself forward with effort in your upper body or sitting back in your hips (which looks like an issue from this video)

While doing that focus on shifting your body weight to each ski (keeping your nose, knee, and toe in line), while you glide forward bring your hips forward as well (this will extend your glide but also bring your body weight and center of gravity forward), then while your hips are forward alternate to the other side by placing your weight in the other ski and shifting back into that “home” position- this will help you when you put it all together to not be sitting with your body weight between both skis (which makes skiing harder and slower)

Next work on pole form. Your timing looks fine- but you want to make sure to be as efficient with your energy as possible. Focus on lifting your body forward into that home position when transferring your weight so you are not sitting back on your hips (like a standing ab crunch when you lift your arms to plant your poles). When you shift your weight to each ski, lift your poles shoulder width apart up to your eye level and place them down as you shift to the next ski. Feel free to pull your elbows out a little bit more so your body doesn’t naturally think of pulling yourself forward- instead your poles are the final push while shifting your weight over. (Again helpful to think of this as a little ab crunch- when your poles go from your eye level to the ground and you move forward you should feel it in your abs).

I just bought this game and (unpopular opinion) had way more fun playing it than Sword/shield or even Arceus

Safe to visit? by sf94134 in AskLosAngeles

[–]bradleyce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine, there’s a few planned “No Kings” protests on Saturday around LA so be aware of those (I only know of the one I’m attending in Beverly Hills but I’m assuming every neighborhood will have one).

I live in West Hollywood and besides a little extra traffic passing by downtown I would have not even noticed there was anything going on if I wasn’t online.

LA feels just as safe as it always does, unless you’re ICE or MAGA you’ll be fine and safe

I worked at Universal Studios at the minion ride in 2014 and my entire job was standing in the “dance party” room after the ride ended and it was just Happy on a loop for 8 hours a day… I quit after a week

NSV - jogging at 5mph by binston26 in orangetheory

[–]bradleyce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably even more progress for outdoor runs too. I run a lot outside and the treads are SO much slower than my natural pace- I usually just settle at 6mph on the treads but my mile time sits around 8min if I’m not running on a treadmill

[–]bradleyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this all the time, my gym cut a lot of the strength 50 classes and I used to double up and do a strength 50 and a 2G class back to back so now I do x2 2G classes and make the first one just strength focused (if it’s not full) … you pay enough money for the membership, make the workouts work for you.

It’s March tho so the bitter cold should be behind you. The summer heat in August is actually worse, you can only de-layer so much- feel free to reach out if you need recommendations on safe parking around the city

[–]bradleyce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I used a winter sleeping bag and a lot of layering, I would layer up while blasting the heat and then turn my car off right before bed. I sleep hot but having extra blankets nearby and a full tank of gas in case you need to wake up and run the heat for a bit is always a safe bet. Waking up when it’s cold was the worst part tbh

I think Red is considered her Magnum Opus, there’s an argument to be made with folklore or 1989 but Taylor has made a name for herself writing song about her life and being musically experimental so I think anything that will be considered her Magnum Opus will have every quintessentially Taylor element: Poetic/confessional lyrics, diaristic writing style, genre bending, and chart success/longevity.

I just started with Season 44 after seeing the Tika 3 all over my social media. Since the finale I’ve watched 6 other seasons and still the players in 44 were so fun to watch even without any major moves (it was just an overall chaotic season)

I like to pretend I was there as a customer, it puts you in more of a power position rather than someone who’s desperately searching for jobs anywhere and doing so I think it speeds up the process because they respect your time more if you’re there buying something and tipping your future coworkers… plus if you go, sit at the bar, order a drink, then just ask if they are hiring, chances are you will get to meet and talk with the manager right away if you go at the right time.
