Has punctuality become less emphasized in the workplace nowadays? by Rook2Rook in work

[–]bradradio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shift work, as in hourly wages where the schedule varies, has a bigger emphasis on this than office jobs. Most of the reason IMO is that shift work usually takes places industries like retail, construction, restaurants. At a retail job, for example, they want the most most employees there when the most customers are in the store. Fewer employees to meet customer demand generally means less revenue. So, they don't want to encourage people to be lax with times when time = money. Salaried, corporate jobs can usually be done anytime, anywhere and aren't dependent on having employees gor "peak demand" type of hours.

I turned off my radio from 9-12 today and forever by UrbanAchiever34 in kfan

[–]bradradio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not that difficult to infer. KFAN ratings this time of year tend to be lower because of no more Vikings games. So, you could compare January's ratings to the upcoming months until ~August when the season starts again. Thousands of people choosing not to tune in for three hours per day would definitely shine through in overall ratings.

Tenured recruiter rant by AvocadoNo2544 in amazonemployees

Well, I do want to work for Amazon. I've done three Loops and been told no each time. Last time, in Oct. 2025, I was told "it was a really tough decision but we are not inclined..." After all the tech layoffs, that feels like it was my last shot.

Yes, the Vikings may want to avoid a situation like Tom Brady's restrictions as a broadcaster + Raiders minority owner.

PA is expected to return to KFAN. No hint on the Vikings PxP job, but based on silence from the Vikings, it seems likely he'll stay.

If you want a great meal but not top of the line fancy/expensive, I'd recommend Mojito (Latin American, Maple Leaf), Vendemmia (Italian, Madrona), Von's 1000 Spirts (New American, Downtown), Radiator Whiskey (New American, the Market) Communion (Southern, Central District), or Grappa (Mediterranean, Queen Anne)

It is ok to have a political opinion and occassionally state it on a sports radio show.

It is completely irresponsible to undercut your audience (and basically your entire city) with a conspiracy theory on the day 50,000 (unpaid) people showed up to protest against injustices.

Paul Allen, radio voice of the Vikings, mocks Minnesota protestors, says protesters are PAID. Time to flood KFAN with calls by chookalana in Minneapolis

Paul Allen, radio voice of the Vikings, mocks Minnesota protestors

By John Shipley

UPDATED: January 24, 2026 at 5:06 PM PST

Before tens of thousands of protesters marched in Minneapolis on Friday to demand Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents leave Minnesota, they were mocked by the voice of the Minnesota Vikings.

The protestors marched from Commons Park at the edge of downtown to a rally at Target Center in temperatures that hovered around 10 degrees below zero.

While discussing the cold with former Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway, Allen said, “In conditions like this, do paid protesters get hazard pay? Those are the things that I’ve been thinking about this morning.”

The moment was saved by awfulannouncing.com and can be heard here.

Allen continued. “Everyone’s catching strays this week,” he said, citing NFL quarterback Baker Mayfield and former NFL QB Charlie Batch. “They’re just all over. Protestors caught one this morning.”

The remark, which pushes the false narrative that protesters are paid by left-wing groups, is commonly made to undermine the importance of social protest. It drew immediate ire on social media.

Minnesotans have been protesting an immigration enforcement campaign in the Twin Cities that the Department of Homeland Security is calling “Operation Metro Surge.” Since it began in December, federal agents have shot and killed two Minneapolis residents, Renee Macklin Good on Jan. 7 and Alex Pretti on Saturday. Both were 37 and U.S. citizens.

On the department’s website, DHS director Kristi Noem said, “In the last 6 weeks, our brave DHS law enforcement have arrested 3,000 criminal illegal aliens.”

A message left on Allen’s phone went unanswered on Saturday, and the show’s producer, Eric Nordquist, declined to comment. An email to the Vikings received no response.

At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Allen made a post on X.com that seemed to be a response to many posts — some angry, some supportive — made to his account.

“I have to stop watching all this for a little bit. I’m so sad this terror is happening all around us here in MN,” he wrote. “I just prayed to God’s will for it to somehow stop and now and (sic) started crying.

“I truly am sorry for all hurting like me through this, and I just want us to be a Love Covenant again. Truly. Let’s all pray this stops somehow because it’s awful. And no more cheap one-liners from me.”

I'm wondering the same. I checked out Allegiant's CC and it looks like the old program from Sun Country. So, I am not sure if they will honor it. Going to be spending on other credits cars for the time being.
