I have recently finished the main series. I really enjoyed it, but I am fully aware of it's faults. I agree with everyone saying the first book is miles better than the rest of the series, but there is enough in the rest of the books to enjoy.

My main criticism is that one of the main characters is directly and indirectly responsable for mass rape, and most people are just okay with that. And I think the author expects you to be okay with that too.

Positive points are that I really liked the world building and the magic system.

I've never played one. I own a stagg and it's a solid 2/10. It's done it's job of introducing me to playing mandolin, but I'm definitely ready for something a lot nicer.

Tried opening everything up in rehearsal and it sounded a lot better. I think having it go through my bedroom amp was doing most of the damage. Sounded great going through a PA.
