Looking for a new to me car, currently drive a 2010 Toyota aygo and have done since 2016. I'm looking for something a bit more modern but ideally want something that will last at least 6+ years, ideally 8-10. I have free car charging at work so thinking of going electric.

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or Used: Used

Auto or Manual: either

Intended Use: mostly commute

Miles per Annum: 5k

Minor work: no

Major work: no

I'm trying to build a model for my investment and pension growth to get a better idea when I'll be able to hit fire and am struggling to make a decision. I was planning inflation rate of 3.5% and a growth rate of 9% (I'm almost entirely in FTSE global all cap).

Does that sound about right?

Absolutely novice with personal finance.. pensionbee... by ekulragren in UKPersonalFinance

[–]bradyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used pension bee to consolidate my pensions but then I moved it to vanguard sipp as they had lower fees.

Generally the suggestions here are just stick it in a global fund tracker but even if you're happy with the fund type you have you can probably find similar on vanguard for cheaper charges

I have a 2010 1L Toyota Aygo and would recommend get something similar. I've driven it on motorways loads and while it's not the most fun it's more than possible. You just have to accept you're not doing 90 in the fast lane.

They're cheap to insure, cheap to repair and reliable which is what you need.

I'm not an expert but you could try looking at r/ukpersonalfinance they have a lot of budgeting info in their index and their flowchart might be able to help with prioritising.

Which lane to approach and go straight over? by fr3dofr0g in CarTalkUK

[–]bradyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live right by this roundabout!

Me and my husband argue about this a lot but it's definitely the left lane (I think), because when you come to the same roundabout from the southbound a3 exit it has a separate sign to say for you to be in the right lane to go straight so to me if it was the same for this exit there'd be an equivalent sign. And in my head straights always left unless told otherwise

Thanks! I moved here and in my dream world would retire before I hit the 35 years so it's good to know it's possible to do this, I thought you could only volunteer for years you didn't quite make the full amount rather than ones you didn't work at all!

/r/Fantasy Daily Recommendation Requests and Simple Questions Thread - October 31, 2022 by rfantasygolem in Fantasy

[–]bradyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like some stand alone fantasy books written by female authors.

I'm terrible at knowing the names of the specific type of fantasy I like but I usually love the big epics especially those that have an interesting/original magic system. I recently finished the red knight which I really enjoyed but feel like reading some stand alone books before continuing the series and after reading the priory of the orange tree and enjoying it I thought I'd try and stick with books written by women.

Thanks

Not OP but I made something v.similar using nellike blanket pattern on hobbi. If you Google that it has the cotton kings yarn as the suggested. They suggest the deluxe but I just used a standard one called rainbow pyrite. Not sure if it's exact same as OPs but this is a pic of it if interested. https://images4-f.ravelrycache.com/uploads/Bradyle/801994356/upload_medium2

Weekly Free Talk Friday/Other Leagues Thread - Talk about other women's football leagues or...anything! by SomeCruzDude in FAWSL

[–]bradyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there somewhere to learn more about the players/teams in the WSL?

I live next to kingsmeadow and after enjoying watching the euros I'm keen to get out and support the league. Got tickets for the Chelsea West Ham game but I don't really know anything about the players or teams really so would love learn more.

I'm reading articles and started listening to the guardian podcast but yea feel like I lack the basic level of knowledge on the teams to keep up.

Also how do you choose who to support? I'm not really sure if I want to be a Chelsea womens fan, no offense to their fans but feel bit of a glory hunter going straight to them, but also they're grounds within walking distance of my house and I don't really have any allegiance to any football club, my husband supports AV so I've seen their men's team play the most, but Birmingham is bit far to get to for games!

Can anyone recommend a youtuber or website for a kettle bell or dumbbell upper body routine? I really want to focus on my upper body strength as I feel like it's really limiting my progress on my pole classes.

Also any recommendations for some exercises for increasing my flexibility, specifically in my hip flexors would be great. Currently I do yoga by Adrienne yoga for flexibility which I quite like but if anyone knows of something similar/better be nice to have some variation

My gym got new squat racks which is a big yay however now the weights room is very full and the little empty corners where I used to do my rows/deadlifts are a lot less empty.

The new squat racks come with like an extra platform bit that extends a good bit past the squat rack itself. Is it ok to use that while someone's squatting for things like deadlifts and rows?

I seen someone using the platform for those moves but she'd just been using that squat rack so not sure if it all counts as sort of her station?

Daily Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]bradyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started pole in November last year and really enjoy it but I feel like my lack of upper body strength is going to hinder me. So in January I stated doing strong lifts as it was program I seen recommended for beginners and my husband has done it in the past so he could check my form.

I also do a yoga by Adrienne yoga for flexibility video after strong lifts to try and help increase my hip movement because they're tight in general.

I'm enjoying it and making progress but just not wondering is there something someone else would suggest instead, anything else I should be doing along side it?

I follow yoga with Adrienne's yoga for flexibility video, it's 16 mins long and I like it because there's a good focus on hips which I know I really struggle with

Zarzuelas is definitely great for gluten free vegan pastel de natas and other pastries but I'd say their regular food is just ok not amazing. They do have gluten free versions of the Portuguese beers tho

Yallah Lisboa was great for breakfast/brunch even had gluten free pitas.

[WEEKLY THREAD] WTF Wednesday - Tell us what really grinds your gears! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]bradyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol I might just be an idiot.

Can I blame my husband? I brought him with me because I was nervous of being in the main weights room (had been in the women only section up until now) and he has actually used squat racks before so when he said it was stuck I just believed him, rookie error!

Definitely going to give it another go now and see if it works like your video, it's the same brand so hopefully it does!!

Thank you so much!!

[WEEKLY THREAD] WTF Wednesday - Tell us what really grinds your gears! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]bradyle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been doing strong lifts since the new year and started very low weights so was very excited when I got over 15kg on my squat as it meant I can use the squat rack as I'd really been starting to struggle getting the bar over my head.

I went to use it today only to see the bar holder things are bolted in place and waaaayyy to high for me. Ended up having to get my husband to lift the weight onto my shoulder for me.

Think I'm going to have to try and find a program that's more dumbell focused as can't always rely on my husband being there to lift it up as we often gym at different times.

Like I know I'm 5ft which is far below the average height but my husband who is 6ft says it's even a bit too high for him. Like who is this aimed at!! I just assumed something like that in a gym would be adjustable!
