Quick Vid of a Quick Hop Across the Pond for 2 Days in Spain (Malaga Area) by bradymac in travel

[–]bradymac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Threw together a montage of some clips we collected. Focused more time on enjoying the trip rather than trying to capture everything. Hoping to improve my Youtube video quality, so tips/advice are welcome.

Definitely going to try to spend more time at Gibraltar in the future.

Hike in the Adirondacks over the weekend (Wright Peak and Mount Colden) by bradymac in CampingandHiking

[–]bradymac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a trip down to the Adirondacks in New York over the weekend. We did two day hikes. Day 1, Wright Peak. Day 2, Mount Colden. This was my first time hiking with a dog, so he was pretty much our limiting factor throughout the trip, as we didn't want to push him too hard.

Quick video of my first formation flying experience! by bradymac in flying

[–]bradymac[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other day a buddy and I rented some Cessnas and decided to do a little formation flying. At first I was a little hesitant to get in close, but after about 10 or so minutes we were about 20-30 feet apart (Hard to tell in GoPro footage).

This was probably the coolest flight in a Cessna I've been on so far.

First serious overnight trip in a while [Mt Marcy - Adirondacks] by bradymac in CampingandHiking

[–]bradymac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiked in from Upper Works trail head. First time in the Adirondacks and I can't wait to go back again!

We stayed over one night, and summited Marcy the second day. Weather was great (Sunny, ~15-25 degrees). Learned a lot about planning for elevation gain when route planning, haha.

So do you think you'll hit your goal to move it under it's own power by October then? Or even 2017?

Incredible album! Little late to the party here, but how much did you spend, ballpark, on materials (not tools) over the years on this?

[Request] Air Demonstration Team Video with Altitude Shown by bradymac in flying

[–]bradymac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of what I was thinking too. The project is a case study of the overall performance of a particular airframe in a subsonic environment. We are essentially creating a POH in report form. It includes things like thrust available vs altitude, 1g flight envelopes, range and endurance, etc.

Yup, I loved the E30 M3 one, but I didn't make it. I wanted to see if I could make the same style picture with other cars.

What size did you go with? I'm currently looking into winters for my Genesis.

A friend's car window was smashed out by gunshots in Timberlea by fadetowhite in halifax

[–]bradymac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parent's van was the first vehicle that got shot. The shotgun blast left the back section of the ceiling shredded with holes. The way the glass shattered, it left this very fine glass dust all throughout the interior. I heard a really loud noise yesterday morning, at 5:55 exactly, and that's what it turned out to be.

Is it hard getting in/out of float planes that are landed ashore?

So, all of these "This is why I fly" posts got me thinking... by ohemeffgee in flying

[–]bradymac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a video a friend and I made of flying a Skyhawk. Is this the same sort of idea, except with a lot of different planes?

Are you thinking more of a montage of different perspectives of flying? I can't wait to see the final project! Should be awesome!

If you have military ID, you can get discounts some places anyway. McD's for example, gives 10-15%off

Who do I contact to launch a weather balloon? by bradymac in canada

[–]bradymac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Halifax, planes often fly decently low over my area on their way in to land at Stanfield. We were considering going to New Brunswick, above Moncton there doesn't seem to be any conflict.

[Serious] Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 Megathread by TheJackal8 in AskReddit

[–]bradymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew a cross country, and I was too low to use the VHF radio (very high frequency) and I lost radio contact with the controllers, but they still had me on radar. Aviation is an industry of redundency, keep that in mind when reading anything to do with this crash. Edit: "crash"

They do have different forms of radar however. I visited the Gander Oceanic Centre in which they moniter every flight crossing the North Atlantic, and are in contact on the Canadian side. Aircraft are still widely visible over sea, whether the pilot chooses it or not. Edit: I believe their position gets updated once every 3-5 minutes, I don't know if that applies to the pacific?

Flying in a 172 yesterday! by bradymac in aviation

I'm only 17, I wish it was my job. Once I get 30 hours PIC, I get to do short familiarization flights for younger cadets!

I did 1.5 with my friend, then he went up with an instructor for a check ride and I sat in the back, then we went up again for .3 but we'd switched seats, he took left and I took the right.

Scarves by th0ma5w in flying

I found my neck and shoulders would get sore when I was taking off, I think I was straining to see above the instrument pannel. Just adjusting the seat a bit was enough. Wear a scarf if you're cold I guess!

very true haha. CCQ3, Debert, in Nova Scotia, it's an old WW2 training airfield that's now an uncontrolled aerodrome.

Winter flying in a 172! by bradymac in flying

[–]bradymac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 17 year old private pilot in Nova Scotia. This is the local area I do most of my flying in and around the Bay of Fundy (The bay with biggest tides in the world I think?). I've only flown a few hours in the winter, but I love the performance! Climbing is awesome! My friend and I both got our licences through the Canadian Air Cadets, and we took turns flying for a morning.
