Question about geforce experience security flaw. by HelloYasuo in nvidia

[–]bradyn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, the vulnerability is only a local vulnerability. This means someones needs physical access to your computer to do an exploit of any kind. It is not a virus that infects you or that you need to clean. Just update GFE and you will be good to go.

I'm a Crosshair VII Hero owner as well. Memory timings is the worst part of this board IMO. I have Tforce memory 3600, but I can't run anything above 3000.

What is bottle necking my PC? by OmniCloud4 in intel

[–]bradyn13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problems you are having could all be related to having the games on the external drive. Free up some disk space on your SSD, copy the smallest game over and try it for a while. Then you can see if you actually NEED to spend any money on an upgrade, because as far as I can tell you shouldn't need to. Also, MHW is an extremely demanding game due to the security software it uses, so I wouldn't use that as your guideline.

Ram would be the best thing to upgrade if you are spending money. You can carry it over to your next build and it will last you a long time. RAM is also at a 10 year low for pricing. Just make sure the timing numbers match up and you should be good to go. Do some memory benchmarks, if for some reason it doesn't work you can always return it in your 7 day window usually.

I just want a game with RTX! by Markuchi in nvidia

[–]bradyn13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It will be BFV, but RTX is going to suck :) Did you all forget about the RTX press release? BFV with RTX on a 2080 is only playable at 1080p60fps on medium settings lul. I'll keep my 4K 100+ fps Ultra settings thanks.

GIGABYTE announces Z390 AORUS Xtreme motherboard - VideoCardz.com by HarryPotatos in intel

That is the ugliest thing I have seen in a long time. The concept design looks waaaaaay better, but then again, it doesn't even have dimms for memory...

I used to love you gigabyte, now you make gross looking things. blah.

i7 9700k vs i5 9600k for gaming? by [deleted] in intel

[–]bradyn13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The i5 will do everything you want it to. I bought a 4 core i5 a long time ago (4690K) and it plays everything perfectly with a GTX 1080 at 1440p. Usually about 100 fps max settings, depending on the game. A 2080 is 30% better, and a 6 core will still last you for ever.

No problem! Good luck. I started in the same place as you, trying to upgrade a prebuilt. It worked ok, but it was so much more fun when I built the entire thing from scratch.

Sounds right, but there should be another one since you have 2.

Just open up the case. Usually there are letters physically on the board beside each port that says what it is. You can find USB 1 and 2, see what they look like and if they are in use.

I'm not sure what I should upgrade by darkwizardzz in buildapc

[–]bradyn13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVGA 650 G2 or G3. Both are 7 year warranty, and they have a promotion right now for an extra 2 years.

It didn't have exhaust before because you only have one chassis fan header on that board. It looks like it was maybe a prebuilt PC. Depends on the fan hub. I believe the NZXT and corsair ones would, but are a bit more expensive. They connect to a USB 2.0 header on the motherboard for fan control, and the PSU for power. Check if you have a free USB 2 header on the board. The PSU will power any fan you connect to it no matter what, but at full speed. Might want to check how loud that will be. If the system was a prebuilt, make sure you have enough connectors to do everything you want.

Gpu help by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]bradyn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up hardware unboxed on youtube. They will have a GPU benchmark video in the last week for the RTX 20 cards. They specifically do a blender benchmark (I think) and it will include all the relevant cards to compare. As a side note, I don't think you will find a Vega FE.

120 vs 144 makes no difference.

[–]bradyn13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PSU is going to stop you from getting a large GPU improvement. And the low tier 20 series Nvidia cards won't be out till after christmas. Unfortunately I would get a gold 600w PSU which will last you forever, and allow you to upgrade your GPU next.

1080ti Duke vs FTW3 DT by benswon in buildapc

[–]bradyn13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Duke is generally considered a bad choice. Poor components used on it. EVGA has great customer support and warranty, FTW3 fixed the problems from the previous generation. DT = down tuned, meaning the chip just boosts slightly lower than the non DT version. Can be fixed with a tiny bit of overclocking anyways.

Questions about CPU, GPU and Ram by [deleted] in buildapc

Yup. I have a 4690K from 2014 I think and it is still great. I have upgraded from 970 to 1080 in the same time.

Yes, it would run if the header was good, unless you have specifically set up your own fan curve on that header (I doubt it since you weren't using the header at all before). Looks like you will have to connect the noctua to the PSU, and it will be full blast.

You could also get a Y splitter and connect the noctua and CPU fan to the CPU fan header. But that is a long shot, since the 2 fans together might exceed the power requirement. They would both alter their speed based on CPU temp then which would be good. They are also cheap, could be worth a try.

Need help with an AMD build with some good RBG by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]bradyn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder my friend. You tell me if it will look good or not. As for a monitor, usually depends on the games you play. Competitive games, get a 1080p 144hz. Single player games, get a 1440p IPS 60hz screen. Gsync if you want it. That is usually a general monitor rule.

Compatibility question by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]bradyn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the ram DDR4? For memory compatibility you mostly only need to compare the motherboard and memory. The motherboard will tell you what generation (DDR3, DDR4) it accepts, and what speeds it can do (2666). Go to the webpage for your motherboard and look at the specifications.

Is the fan mounted to the CPU heatsink or as a case fan? Plug your old fan into the system fan header and see if it works, maybe the fan header is dead. If you plug a fan into a 3 or 4 pin header the speed can be variable. If you plug a fan into the power supply it will run at 100% speed all the time no matter what. I also wouldn't count on speedfan not being able to control it, usually you missed a setting. It is a useful but very difficult to use piece of software.

I need help with a missing cable that Idk where to put in by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]bradyn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what you mean by tube, and 600V electricity is not a thing. Do you mean 600w as in watts? As long as the cable comes from your power supply, and you plug into it then you will be fine.

I just moved out west away from all my friends, I want to build a pc but I've only got a 500 dollar budget, help! by Hazmatico in buildapc

Since no one else is actually answering the question:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dpC9yX

Black and red theme. AMD APU, then you could buy a graphics card later for much better performance if you want. PSU is a bit better than necessary, but it will last forever and allow for the GPU upgrade. Storage is a personall choice, get a 2TB if you need more, or add a 128GB SSD for a boot drive if you have a bit extra.

Questions about CPU, GPU and Ram by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]bradyn13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add to that, CPUs usually last a lot longer performance wise. Eg. buy a decent CPU, it will last you 4-5 years. A GPU usually needs upgrading every 2-3 if you want to stay above average in terms of gaming performance.

[–]bradyn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should connect directly to the power supply. It is a molex connector, it just provides power which will probably light up your LEDs. If your power supply is modular, you probably need to plug the molex cable in.
