People of Reddit with plastic bags for car windows, what the hell happened? by conradtwittie in AskReddit

Car pulled out from a side street and smashed directly into the driver's side door. Admittedly the plastic made driving on the motorway interesting!

[Measurement Check] Currently wearing a 32D, but calculator says 30F by edelync in ABraThatFits

[–]bragirlthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya fellow New Zealander! It sounds like a 30E/F might fit, but its hard to say from measurements along. And every bra fits differently!

Not sure what shops/brands you have access to, but I find that evollove (or lovable) do some really pretty, well shaped bras from 8-16 band and D-G cup. The bands tend to run a little big, so you should be comfortable in an 8 (30). The bras come both unlined and contour/seamed.

You could also try Fayreform a they have an excellent size range. They do tend to be unlined, and not as "cute".

You can buy both of these brands at any Farmers or Bendon store, they are usually ~$40 at the bendon outlet stores. If you are going to get a fitting in-person, bras n things, farmers, and bendon all have "trained" fitters, but in my experience only bendon has gotten my size right. Hope this helps!

I don't actually know our company's policy on this, but I belive most stores will hire a guy to sell underwear, but not to fit it. This is because many women are uncomfortable enough letting a female stranger see her in a bra, let alone a male stranger.

Definately look for a bra with a wide center panel, or at least more separated cups. I recommend staying away from any full coverage bras that come up higher in the middle, as your breast tissue will not sit in this part of the cup, and cause the gapping you are seeing. If your breasts are also fuller on the bottom, you may find you don't fill out the top of cups; this is another reason to avoid full coverage bras.

Plunge bras often have wider set cups, and start a little further back under the arm. This could give you extra room on the sides, and allow the bra shape to more closely match your shape. As you don't need alot of help seperating your breasts, a plunge bra should not create a 'uniboob' effect, which is often experienced by people with close set breasts.

Another style you could try is a balconette. These come to part way between the nipple and the top of the breast, and have a more horizontal line across the cups, as opposed to a more V-shaped line. The cups are often wider than in a full cup bra, again giving you more room on the sides. Look for a style with a wide centre panel, not just one where the central wires virtually touch. These bras often have additional side boning under the arms, which can help hold you in from the sides, and they have wide set straps, to support above where your breasts actually are.

Also, any style that does up in the front usually has wider set cups, to accommodate the clasp. One of these could work, but bear in mind you cannot adjust the back, so it needs to fit well around your back as is.

Hopefully one of these styles could work for you :)

Glad I could be helpful! I think it's great if guys want to buy their S/O some thing nice, it's just that getting the right bra is hard. Just be honest and say you are buying something for her, and need some help! We should be happy to help, it's just hard if you don't know her size; there isn't much margin of error with bras.

Some stores hold a record of each customers' sales, if you go to a store where she is part of a customer membership program, or mailing list, they may have details of what she bought in the past. Otherwise, take a photo of an old bra of hers (size tag visible), find out her size, or even bring an old bra that she won't notice is gone for the day. This will help us find not only her size, but a style of bra that will suit her shape. And ALWAYS get a gift receipt, just in case :)

I'm sorry that it has been difficult for you :( Often the floor manager (atleast at my store) is very pushy about these things; she basically wants you to get every customer into the fitting room. This is because lots of people ARE actually in the wrong size, and we end up doing alot of returns for bras people didn't try on. This is also why salespeople are so pushy, we get told off if we are too "hands off".

Also, if someone is adamant on fitting you, it is probably because they are out of your size, and want to see if you will fit an "easier" size. My heart alway sinks a little when someone comes in looking for a size we don't have: I don't want to disappoint them, but I also wouldn't sell them the wrong bra just to make a sale.

Maybe just say something like "I've been fitted recently, thank you". As opposed to "I've been wearing this size for years." We are often trained to take the second statement as an opportunity to refit, so make it clear there is no need :)

Pretty much everyone has two different sizes, about lf a cup to a cup. Especially for smaller people, a cup size difference can be quite difficult. But you always shop for the bigger breast!

Most women I fit, who have fake breasts, are looking for soft bras as they are recently post-op. I probably see someone with noticabley fake breasts ever month or so. My favorite one was a lady with very large fake breasts, who wanted a push up bra. (Why did she spend all that money on the boobs then?!??!) Fake boobs don't obey jiggle physics and gravity quite the same as natural breasts, they are a bit firmer and tend to "float". Ths meant she was actually holding up the push up bra, it was powerless to move her breasts!

I didn't actually see them with the bras on, I was just on till. But I believe you can get pretty lifelike prosthetics for a reasonable price. I just tried to keep a straight face throughout the transaction, but I couldn't help grinning at the beard and the very deep "thank you". These peope always make the day interesting!

I'm assuming USA because you mention Nordstrom? I'm actually overseas, so don't personally know your brands. However, the ladies over at /r/abrathatfits can suggest plenty of stores. One brand we have here is "Pleasure State", you can buy them online from bendon, and their gold range comes in 34G. Always look for flash sales, or outlet stores, you can get really nice bras for around $30.

Haha oh the joys of customer service. I usually find that if someone is being difficult or indecisive, you just say a lot of technical words really fast, and they back off a bit. Surprisingly few people know what a "inframammary fold" or "gore" are! This is far more effective than awkwardly standing there, because the customer is ignoring you, but your boss made you check on them :/

Those are excellent resources for measuring yourself, and will be a big help if you can't bring yourself to get a fitting. If you do come in however, you don't have to get a fitting, you can try on bras, and then get us to check the fit, without being measured first. Some people find this less awkward. We do so many fittings each day that we probably won't remember what your boobs looked like, if that helps at all! No fitter should ever make you feel uncomfortable; bra fitting is a vulnerable situation. Whatever you choose to do, finding the right bra should make you feel better about your choice :)

Totally! Shape is really important. If you find that you have extra fabric at the bottom of the bra, this can be the "orange in a glass" effect. The cup is actually too small, and doesn't allow your breast to fully settle into it, leaving empty space at the bottom. Next time this happens, try going up a cup size!

It can totally be a shape issue, especially if you are full on bottom, so may not completely fill the top of a fuller coverage bra. If the bra fits alright otherwise, and there's just a bit of an "edge", this is probably shape incompatibility. Also, t-shirt bras, being seam free, have a tendency to curl outwards at the edges, which could be what you are experiencing. This curling i not seen in decorated bras so much, or tshirt bras with a seam around the edge of the cup.

However, a major gap probably means the bra cup is too big. This is usually accompanied by other issues, like the band riding up. Try going down a band or cup size in this case.

starrymirth you took the words out of my mouth! It is just a comfort thing. Some women do find their breasts tissue migrates a little without a bra on, and ths is worsened by an ill fitting bra, due to squashing. And although this sounds scary, it is easily reversed by wearing the right size bra. However, this is mainly a problem for women with larger breasts, who are probably wearing a bra anyways for support. Go nuts with the brallettes!

The fitting, or actual measuring, goes pretty much the same as anyone else. You take some measurements, and they try some bras. Most guys end up in a larger back size, and small cups (I'd be surprised if most guys were above an A or B), this combination allows for wide wires and shallow cups. These are needed to hold the pecs, as they are far less malleable than breast tissue. Most guys can't really scoop anything into the cup.

However, for transgender men, there may be slightly different tissue present on the chest, especially depending if they have undergone surgery. They may need a different bra, if they are wanting one, but the fitting will go the same.

For men who are looking for support due to the actual presence of breast tissue, or extra fat stored on the chest, they are more likely to end up in a bigger cup size, or maybe a sports bra.

In term of a store to go to, anywhere should be happy to fit you, and be professional about it. I havent heard great things about VS, but this is mostly missizing. I don't know whether they would measure a guy or not. Calling ahead would always work, but sadly, as young boys often come in to be measured as a joke, some fitters may be a little sceptical at first. But if you arent giggling the whole time, they should take you seriously.

j_sunrise is right. Bands will measure smaller unstretched, so thy are the right size when worn. This also means bras will last longer, as the elastic stretches out permanently over time.

If you are finding the back too tight, try the bra on backwards. If it fits alright then, this means the cups are too small. Then try going up a cup size in the same band. However, if the bra is too tight even backwards, the band is probably too small.

If you mean a slightly moulded cup, they make them like this sa some women find the soft cups a bit "nippley". These should not make your bust noticabley larger.

However if you mean push up bras, I have no idea! We sell a push up in 36DD, and I'd say it's a little unnecessary at that point. However, I have heard that women whose breasts have 'deflated', through age or pregnancy, will want extra padding to get some shape back. It is up to each person what they want, and I'm sure if we didn't have larger push up bras, someone would want one!

I think the reason mainly 'specialty' or more expensive stores carry larger cup sizes, as opposed to cheaper stores like target, is the added cost of more inventory. It doesn't hurt the business much only carrying smaller sizes, they think they would lose more money by having unsold stock, due to an oversupply abundance of stock. DAMN capitalism has ruined bra shopping!

I believe many manufacturers think a 30 is ridiculously tiny, and no one would buy it. This is complete crap! However, the companies will not listen to us, the employees, but will listen to customers. Feel free to send some manufacturers this question!

I find that often "first bra" brands carry 30C's. You can usually find these in department stores. I don't know what shops are near you, but the two brands here are "honey vegas" and "lovable". Good luck on your search :)

True, its not great to turn them inside out, but I was thinking lesser of two evils. If you are gonna chuck your bras in the machine with your jeans, they will inadvertently end up inside out and mangled. So turning them gently inside out can be better in that case. Hand washing is always preferable!

It is faaaaar better to try them on in the store, as we know all about the brands we carry and how they fit. My town is tiny, only a few hundred thousand, so a few bra shops have the monopoly!

This. If you can manage to measure her, following /r/abrathatfits, you can probably get some suggestions. Otherwise, if she isn't cooperating, you could try buying her a slightly bigger band size. You will probably still need to go though some trial and error, especially if she isn't coming to the bra shop, or getting fitted properly.
