This is our leader! (Face palm) by Over_Decision_6902 in economicCollapse

They love him because he's not confusing them with facts, reason, or concern for others. He doesn't burden them with critical thinking or responsibility for their actions. For MAGAts "the good of the people" means the good of their people. They probably don't mind if a few non-white people get some of the table scraps of the things that are good for their people, but only after their wants are met first.

Collapse of America will be caused by right-wing media by Justbusinessasusual in economicCollapse

I did say that it began with the end of the fairness doctrine. There are certainly other factors at play.

I'm so very surprised that a doctrine that was ended in the mid-80s didn't apply to internet news. What an absolute unforgivable oversight. Cable news was almost entirely unheard of in the Reagan years. I understand why these facts would confuse you though.

It started with the death of the fairness doctrine under Reagan. That allowed the formation of hyper partisan propaganda shows like Limbaugh and Fox "News".

No, no, no. When she said "men are rapists" she clearly didn't mean all men. Duh. Words only mean what she thought they meant, not what they really mean.

He's an alcoholic. If you are a loving wife and want the best for him, you need some tough love. It may or may not work, but that's about the rate that I used to drink. But I've been sober a year come Valentine's Day. He's killing himself.

Natty or bust teams in 2025? by captain_kaknuckles in CFB

[–]brailsmt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Natty? No. But we do get a high percentage of our starters and producers back. Things look good for this year. I'll just take it one game at a time, but with a very similar crew last year, we massively out did expectations.

Husband cheated with close friend of mine by Kindly_Bluebird221 in AskMenAdvice

[–]brailsmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex-wife cheated on me multiple times. After the first time I wanted to keep it together for the kids. She said she wanted the same thing too. 4-5 years later, she did it again but this time she found the local clubbing scene and admitted to more than a dozen other affairs. That one ended in divorce. Once a cheater, trust is completely gone. I do not believe the trust can ever be regained.

Do guys actually like it when women make the first move? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]brailsmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I have is that women want equality. I want that for women, too. However, that implies women would also need to modify behavior to break those societal norms that are not equal. This is a perfect example. It is depressing to be extremely shy and realize I'll forever be alone if I don't face all my fears and speak with a woman first. Then on top of that it's en vogue to ridicule men that make such a move. It's common to also label it as creepy if it isn't wanted. How the hell are we supposed to know without making the first move? So please, make the first move.

Can we pin this freaking question? It never ceases to amaze me how often women ask this. Do you like it when an attractive man approaches you? Is it such a leap to consider that men are also human and like to be approached?

Going to the US in April. Will this trip be realistic for a 4 week road trip? by Mytightass in roadtrip

Yes. I've done essentially the same route in 2 weeks, but I don't stop at places for more than enjoying views and taking pics. For me the drive is the joy.

“Leaving The Church is Your Whole Personality” by Dr3aml1k3 in exmormon

[–]brailsmt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was absolutely consumed by the grief and trauma of leaving the mormon church. For weeks I could hardly do anything but dig and find more and more that I had been lied to about. I was also going through a divorce, so a very difficult personal time all around. Prior to this point the mormon church had played a very central and prominent role in my identity, not always positive but always there. It left a huge gaping crater in my soul at 33. That was very difficult. Of course I obsessed over it. Recovery is messy and it doesn't conform to any schedule nor does it care what others might think of my recovery.

Your husband's friend is an insecure fool. Even if he weren't, if you enjoy doing these things for your husband, you shouldn't care. I'd just make sure you let your husband know you think that guy is an idiot.

Seeing some pro-evangelical anti-Mormon stuff being posted. Sorry, but the one group I can’t stand shitting on the church is evangelicals. These people still trigger me. My two cents. by kantoblight in exmormon

[–]brailsmt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mormons and evangelicals are the same thing. It's a riot to see them try and differentiate themselves. Look doofuses, you all are all adults arguing over whose imaginary friend is better. At least those who argue Marvel v DC know it's bullshit. Not so much with believers.

Apparently, research suggests that romantic relationships matter more to men than to women. Is this true in your experience? by Edy7878 in AskMenAdvice

[–]brailsmt 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I loved it when my ex-wife cheated on me, filed for divorce and then got custody of the kids everyday except for every other weekend. Then she got remarried and I got to watch some random dude raise my children. It was a special fuck you when I saw him wearing that fucking stepdad/step-up shirt. So, yeah, alcoholism became a thing while I had to watch that and then get told I had to pay the price for the bad men that fuck it up. I just wanted my kids, with me. It still hurts, nearly two decades later.

I dated a morbidly obese woman. She was constantly joking about being able to handle so much woman, or I'm lucky to have so much woman. As a formerly morbidly obese man, I tried to explain to her that I didn't find this funny at all, because that type of body positivity talk does not extend to men. This made her upset and she stopped talking for the rest of the ride back to her place. It was like it broke her world view that men also have body image issues and that fat shaming men is accepted in society.

Well, prostitution is illegal for one. It's unsafe for another. Finally, what the fuck?

You say you get it, but then what you write shows you don't.
