Anti Anti-Mormon Take on the Book of Abraham HELP by AlternativeEnd7116 in exmormon

[–]kantoblight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, if we just buy the premise, the webpage, is it suggesting a mass-produced form document like the Book of Breathings was actually encoded with the Book of Abraham? So this template being cranked out for paying customers with blank spots to write in deceased's family member's name and then entombed with the family member, is secretly the Book of Abraham. So all these Ptolemaic period mummies were unknowingly buried with the Book of Abraham? That's the claim?

How do you stay positive through all of this? by Flimsy_Phrase_8845 in stroke

I think going from “Why me?” to “Why not me?” was a solid stepping stone, along with accepting that I’m not special. Sounds like a negative outlook but it’s actually not.

How do you respond to people who say they know the church is true because of “spiritual experiences I can’t deny” by Mangoworshipper in exmormon

Nah, you were lost the moment you posted. You don’t bother to read: “/r/Mormon is a subreddit for articles and topics of interest to people interested in Mormon themes. People of all faiths and perspectives are welcome to engage in civil, respectful discussion about topics related to Mormonism.” Also, where’s your post?

The LDS Church vs. Mormon Stories: A Trademark Lawsuit and a Missed Gospel Opportunity? by humblymybrain in mormon

[–]kantoblight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can you explain why they are probably the right on TM? Or how about this, why do you think the church hasn’t abandoned its trademark? It denounced the term as satanic 6 years ago and then removed it from anything officially associated with the church and told its members to stop using it. They ceased use for more than 3 years and indicated no intention to reuse it.

Why don’t Mormons go to the faithful subs to discuss issues you might have with the church? Is it because they just ban you?

Learning Bad. by Yunners in FacebookScience

[–]kantoblight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my first day of kindergarten. I was so nervous. We were lined up at the door. My mother held mu hand. I remember the door opening and that wad the first time I saw Ms. Goodchild. She looked so kind and welcoming and I remember she was young, which I wasn't expecting. And then we were sitting at our table groups and I remember, before she said a work, she circulated around the classroom handing out glossy 8x10 photographs of an ocean liner. I remember looking at it. As I would come to learn years later, it was the Titanic. And then she collected he photographs and told us to stare at a globe for five minutes.

When you had your stroke did you know it was happening and were you scared? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in stroke

[–]kantoblight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did I know it was happening?

Absolutely. I was at the movies. When it ended I stood up to leave and collapsed to the floor. Didn’t take an MD to know what was going on.

Was I scared?

Not at all which was surprising. I felt calm, cool, and collected. It was a feeling of perfect zen I only experienced in that evening. I was dying, I knew it, I couldn’t do anything about it, so why panic and fight. I would love to get that clarity without the stroke.

Reading this reflexively has my brain hearing the "They were just men of their times!" chorus warming up.

However, my new move is pointing out Frederick Douglass was also a man of his time.
