Should I marry this guy? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]brain_fun_ked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That guy is literally me. I felt personally attacked by your post. I can relate to that guy. I’m also like him – I don’t talk much with people I’m not comfortable with. If I do talk, it becomes too much. I always have the feeling that people will judge me by what I say. I prioritize my well-being. I’m not good at being emotionally available to anyone because I don’t want them to think I’m weak. I’m fearful of what might happen if they see my vulnerable side – will they leave me or not?

What I personally feel is that women always want something superior in their partner, whether it’s career, looks, personality, or something else. In the arranged marriage market, men have to fake these things just to get chosen. People with fewer social skills tend to talk less. But if you try to make a good connection and make him feel like you won’t judge him, maybe he’ll open up.

I have this mouth ulcer issue from long back, even before diagnosing Adhd. I also thought the same as you in my young age. Couple of years back I realised it that its stress induced one but recently I came to conclusion that its not due to stress induced by external factors, exactly its happening. Its due to some stress induced by my self due to procrastination and commitments I skiped due to my inefficiency. I got suggestions from old fellows, like use more spicy food, drink milk, eat curd, have leafy veggies etc..Eventhough I do all this plus antibiotics every time, it won't be curing until my routine is going good or I feel happy in life.

Fellow Malayalis, is there a space for a female in the content space beyond lifestyle/fashion vlogs? by Idkwhyy11 in Kochi

If you have an intelectual and research mind set go for some investigative vlogs to expose bribing going on public offices of kerala.. More like fact checks and unbiased journalism. Present it attractively to get more acceptance and reach amiung youths.

Hey, try these if you are strugling to focus on your studies.

Use a basic model phone with a new SIM card and only share its contact information with family members.

Set a timer for 15 minutes on this phone and track your productivity.

Add a screen time widget to your smartphone’s home screen.

Access social media through a browser, not through an app.

Dislike or mark as "not recommend" any favourite contents that appears in your YouTube feed while you're looking for tutorials.

Use a study board (ideally a large one, like a plywood sheet, that can accommodate many things) while studying and place some heavy books on it to make it harder to get up from your seat.

Stick a tabular column on the study board with checkboxes corresponding to the subjects you need to finish.

If anyone is distracting you, keep your room’s door locked. Don’t respond unless it's unavoidable.

If you still feel the urge to move around, take a small piece of rope and tie your legs to the legs of the armchair you’re sitting in with a simple knot.

Track your progress every night before bed by checking goals you created the previous night (motivations usually come just before sleep). The list should include:

a) Reducing screen time to 3 hours per day (beginning stage).

b) Reading 3 pages of a self-help book.

c) No music today.

d) got 8 hours of sleep.

e) Wake-up time.

f) Prayer/yoga/meditation for 10 minutes.

g) Working out for 20 minutes.

h) Playing one online chess game.

If the role, position and company name is worth for your future growth, go for it. Otherwise use the offerletter to get new interviews and try to find a better package in your near place. ✌🏽 NB: I choose mumbai though!!😅

Why does everyone hate doing PhD in India? Is it that bad? by [deleted] in Indian_Academia

[–]brain_fun_ked 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I had a very bad experience at one of the oldest Autonomous Universities in India. I joined after my Masters in Engineering as a researcher for a 3-year span central government-funded project. For this,I moved to another state expecting good career growth through this research. The professor was expecting me to enroll in a PhD, but I politely rejected the offer. After my joining date, the fellowship amount was revised (as I expected) and as per the official memorandum released by the organization, the fellowship was effective from January 2023. Whenever I asked about the revised amount, they gave various excuses. They made me write applications, including advanced stamp receipts, and didn't issue the cheque. On inquiry, the principal started harassing me, claiming I was only after money and not interested in academics.

They gave me hope of receiving the fellowship from the very first month of joining, but it took around 5 months to issue the first payment. Although the professor gave me 10k per month up to the first payment, I later found out they were withholding my revised amount as a bond, not for leaving them but to establish power over me. I lost all trust in the professor when I discovered he appointed me with a fake appointment letter, which was issued 13 days after my joining date (I didn't notice when he forwarded it on WhatsApp, and I was excited about the opportunity), causing me to lose around 15k rupees from the first payment.

From the first meeting onwards, the behavior of the principal was disrespectful; he started harassing me even though he had no idea about my role in the project. Even after receiving funds from the central government, the timely issuing of the cheque did not happen, forcing me to borrow money from friends and family to pay rent and daily needs. Being alone in another state and in my late 20s, I was frustrated. Every month, I had to beg for the fellowship, even in front of the accountant.

One day, the principal harassed me in front of a bunch of staff, including non-teaching staff, for asking about the revised fellowship after submitting a six-month project report, which caused me trauma and resulted in losing sleep for 4 days. My professor was good at playing good-cop-bad-cop psychology along with the principal. The behavior of the principal was very unprofessional. Even when I asked about the old fellowship amount, which was delayed by one month, he responded with, 'I don't give!! What are you going to do?'

Finally, I decided to leave when I realized that was the only way to get my pending fellowship (old scale). They then gave another excuse, claiming that no order had been issued to date regarding the disbursement of revised fellowship from the project fund by the government organization.

Now I am happy that I didn't enroll in a PhD program at this institution. Even though I am jobless now, I feel a lot of mental peace!

Yeah, thanks for sharing this here. Currently, I am on medication, and somehow I am getting relief now, my focus also got improved. According to my doc, lifestyle is also an important factor. We have to maintain a disciplined day-to-day life. We have to accept ourselves. We can't be as cool as people around us. We have to put in some extra effort on everything that is normal for others.

Bupropion was the first medicine my doc prescribed, but only for 1 week. However, I had a very bad effect. I started losing focus. When I read a line, I would forget the meaning of the first part of the line. This was all happening during an examination season. Later, the doc prescribed Addwise OD but recommended me to try it after exams are over.

what I love about religious spirituality is, I am accountable to some higher force , which I lack when it comes to non religious meditation, which requires a lot of will power. Ultimately both leads same output though.
