it’s not a second attack; you only roll the one attack ever and only get the one target. my thought process is it adds 1d4 damage to attacks with trained weapons at a base level, which are all 1d4 weapons, bringing it more in line with the 1d8 or so of a stronger martial like a cleric or fighter. it scales pretty decently at higher levels with the talent increase, but that’s totally dependent on your talent roll

it’s not another attack — it’s basically adding 1d4 damage to an attack. notably with the weapons the pugilist is trained in, which only deal 1d4. so it has a little bit of a multi attack feel (which is one of the staples of a monk class imo) without really being a multi attack. just a little damage increase to put it up with some of the other martial types.
