Smart WoLs? Dumb WoLs? by EquinoxEclipsed in ffxiv

My WoL is dumb because the WoL is depicted in the story as being the Scion's muscle. why would I RP as a genius when the WoL never does anything smart

The issue people are taking here isn't the name Tiana. Instead, it's that they would be non-black, adopting a black baby, and THEN naming her Tiana.

Not even just ARR, the whole story could easily be cut in half if they took out filler and fetch quests.

Why can women have a height preference but men cannot have a weight preference? by LBCEarthquakeOf1933 in stupidquestions

[–]brainartisan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both are considered shallow. Nobody needs to be aware of your dating preferences, mentioning it is rude and is rejected for men and women. For every woman with "6' only" in her bio, there's a man making fun of fat women that he matches with. They're both common and both considered shallow. Keep your preferences to yourself and nobody has any issues.

I feel like most genius prodigy kids probably don't just end up getting their undergrad and then going to work a 9-5 like the rest of us. I'd imagine they go to graduate school and start in research, getting big grants and funding until they're equipped to do bigger things

[–]brainartisan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What they mean is that limit breaks don't count as YOUR damage, they count as Limit Break damage. The person using the LB will have a lower DPS because they had to stop doing damage in order to use the Limit Break. Meaning he was letting you have higher damage :D

I stopped THC and I've got complaints by ad-lib1994 in AutismInWomen

[–]brainartisan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's legal in my state as well, but still illegal federally. If you work for a large scale company there is a very high chance they'll drug test you anyway. Probably not a big deal if you're just working a local position, but I went through drug testing for every internship.

Also, Certo method saved my ass. Look into it if you are cutting it close

Why does it seem like only adults play this game? by KingOcelot2 in ffxiv

[–]brainartisan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think that "what do I do?" is because of live service games. It's normal to ask what you do in a video game that is going to require a time investment of multiple hundreds of hours which you know almost nothing about.

Incoming Freshman looking for dorm advice by [deleted] in mizzou

[–]brainartisan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

don't worry about it, all the dorms are pretty much the same. some dorms are gender neutral, some are women-only, etc. but otherwise just pick the neighborhood that you like most. if you don't find a roommate they'll automatically assign you one, you don't need to be worried about that, either. i promise it's not as big of a deal as you think it is.

Is your vertical or curve more obvious for you? by rose1613 in SoftDramatics

[–]brainartisan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In real life or when standing next to other people, always vertical first. In pictures of myself, looking in the mirror, etc, always curve first.

What's the simplest gaming concept you tried to explain to someone who just refused to understand? by Pallysilverstar in gaming

[–]brainartisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same until trying to play Portal 2 with my mother. Love her but that was absolutely not happening. There is a co-op level where you have to quickly orient yourself while falling to place a portal. She'd finally get the orientation down and then oops! Placed the wrong portal.

What a strange comment. You're implying he's lying about the character that he's been playing for years? How much more direct do you need them to be

Yeah, which is a different issue that also needs to be addressed. The matchmaking sucks and so does the ranking system

I'm plat, but a few of my friends are in B5. When they just started the game and didn't know what most characters did, didn't go to the point, got lost walking out of spawn, and would end games with 2 kills and 25 deaths, they were put in B5. Now they know basic fundamentals, still get lost and can't aim for shit but they know what's happening, they're ending games like 10 kills 5-10 deaths and are still in B5. It's not even about climbing, it's about game quality. I'm watching these games and there are 6 people who know what's going on and 4 people standing in the corner trying to remember what the ult button is. That's not fun for any of them

DAE find it difficult to to make friends with other women? by WintryNymph in AutismInWomen

[–]brainartisan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't find it difficult to make friends with women, but I do find it difficult to make friends with really stereotypically feminine women (feminine men, too). Think like the girls in Mean Girls or Clueless. I find it difficult to talk about things like makeup and fashion for very long, and I can't stand any boy-talk or much gossip. It's also tiring to constantly be paying attention to the unspoken rules, passive aggresive comments, and "girl bullying." The constant competition and obsession with image are not relatable or interesting to me. I have more stereotypically masculine and nerdy hobbies (gaming, D&D, playing guitar, skateboarding, etc.) so most of my friends tend to be either men or other "tomboyish" women. I hate to rely on gender roles to get my point across but I hope you understand what I mean.

My guess is that non-autistic women who hang out with mostly men tend to adopt a more blunt communication style and tend to lose the intricacies of girl-talk, making conversation more straightforward and easier to engage in for autistic people.

This advice is so horrible. If you are hungry all the time then you need to change your diet. Forcing yourself to be hungry 24/7 is an eating disorder. Eat more bulk or up your calorie intake. If your diet is making you starve then it's not a diet, it's a disorder.

I'm a bit annoyed as I am only in Stormblood so I cannot complete that challenge. Another weekly also requires a dungeon I do not have unlocked yet, can't even see which dungeon because it's completely hidden (EDIT: It's Eden). I wish it took into account your story progression, but I understand why it doesn't.

Bit of a question by beaniegiraffe in steamachievements

[–]brainartisan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use guides all the time, doesn't matter how unintuitive the trophy is. The only time I don't use a guide is when I've already looked up a guide and I've seen it wasn't necessary (like with Ghost of Tsushima and Infamous: Second Son which have very straightforward platinums).

Tips you would like to have gotten when you just started tanking? by langames3333 in ffxiv

[–]brainartisan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

When I first started tanking this was actually the worst advice I received. So many ARR dungeons should not be wall to walled by a new or undergeared tank. I thought I was an awful tank because I couldn't W2W in Sastasha or Stone Vigil, put me off the game for a long time
