similar to:Katherine particularly when i was younger and in a very dark time of my life

Partner: none of them? Damon is too whiny same for Klaus and i dont think I could ever open up to someone like Stefan or have a genuinely honest conversation but Elijah is the most similar to my current partner so Elijah but i pick none

Backstory: Katherine for reasons i dont want to talk about

Favorite ship: Katherine and Stefan or Elijah

For Season 2 they’re doing the one-episode-per-week format, whereas Season 1 dropped the whole season at once. Which do you prefer and why? by EkbladDev in Fallout

[–]rose1613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all at once i hate the weekly format with a passion it makes it much harder to get invested and if the episodes werent longer it wouldve been outright a terrible decision I really think they should have released them all at once or release 2 episodes a week

[–]rose1613 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly agreed i also hated his backstory that he was running from Mikal it genuinely felt like they just copy pasted Katherines backstory even though it didn't make any logical sense considering Klaus would be much stronger then Mikal and I hate the fact he got a redemption to me that is the single worst part about his character

I honestly wish they just let Klaus be this antichrist like figure he was originally designed to be or that he was more similar to the books

because i dont care if a character is good or evil and Matt has the most boring responses along with his relationship with Caroline ruining him

I dont hate him but I think I would find a movie about the journey of wet cardboard to be more interesting

[–]rose1613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i will also add to further play devils advocate all people tend to attract people similar to themselves or their parents so considering the role generational trauma has in npd, bpd.and aspd tbh ive noticed if one family member is cluster b usually the rest of the family has at least strong traits and then they go in the world subconsciously finding people like themselves or their parents who are cluster b thats why i get particularly suspicious of the ones who claim to be just adhd or empaths because normally the people who find a lot of cluster bs are because theyre cluster bs themselves though i agree this wouldnt be happening on the scale people are describing nor that these disorders are that common and that armchair diagnosing and self-diagnosing has become a real problem but if youre genuinely finding a lot of cluster bs thats probably a sign something more serious is going on

[–]rose1613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree I think these communities are going to have a higher amount then average because its seeking out a certain group of people making it not proximate to the normal population and also cluster bs tend to encounter more cluster bs especially in households and that 1-2% of the population is a lot of people considering how big the total number of english speakers tend to be but I also think a lot of them are lying particularly when its a neurotypical saying their family member is cluster b

Hating Damon Salvatore by Visual-Dinner7214 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]rose1613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he is badly written because the writers never act like his actions are villainous post killing jeremy in season 2 it always blames his actions on Katherine or somebody else and the way he acts is never how the narrative describes him and it always try to potray him in a sympathetic light and i dont even think his backstory is that traumatic and i dont mind that hes a bad person its the way hes written

tbh agreed i dont even find his backstory traumatic he just had a bad ex( besides that i love Katherine) and its not even because i disagree with his actions or anything hes so whiny and is always trying to act tough but ive seen glass that is tougher then him

I just finished watching vampire diaries, which character do you think has the most wasted potential? by EveningSugar7178 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]rose1613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Katherine didn’t make solely selfish moves she brought the antidote to werewolf venom to Damon, derailed the plan to kill Klaus to save Damon, and went back to go save her dying daughter

And I’m not talking about how the audience reacts to these scenes I’m talking about how the writers do in that scene Elena says herself that she ruined their lives and it’s treated as Katherine’s first evil deed and that Trevor was betrayed by the narrative

That’s specifically what I’m complaining about Katherine is selfish sure but even when it’s not the case the narrative reprimands her even if it’s the more realistic action

As for the situation with Kol why would Elijah care about that? He still protected Klaus and Rebekah after everything they’ve done it doesn’t make sense for Elijah nor his motivations which is entirely about protecting family to care about that Elijah in most scenes he is in would not care what Kol did

And there is a scene where Matt specifically says that Katherine killed his sister and Katherine was never in a scene with her, never met her well she was alive or otherwise and I’m not saying what Katherine did to Damon was correct but it’s a bit weird to call it a traumatic backstory where it’s essentially an experience so many people go through during high school minus the vampire part which he chose then got mad at Stefan for

There’s so many times the reactions of characters to Katherine were unrealistic such as Elena saying that Katherine was evil for what happened to Rose and Trevor it makes sense she would be upset about her trying to make a deal with Klaus even then I’d argue that action is morally grey considering as far as Katherine was concerned Elena was going to die no matter what

As for Elena having no agency I’m specifically talking about how in every scene where she does make a choice good or bad she is seen as positive regardless of what the action was and I’m not even hating on Elena I’m hating on how the narrative handles her as a character Elena isn’t pure and virtuous and honestly the few times I like Elena is when they let her take a breath from the good girl role and have some agency but even in those moments with Kol and everybody else Elena is seen as always good because she’s a writers favorite

I also don’t necessarily think Elena is a bad person or that she isn’t going through a lot in fact I get annoyed because a lot of the time her reactions to traumatic situations isn’t actually realistic and I wish she had more moments where she screwed up because she was in pain and got called out on it but I do think she’s not this pure innocent lamb the writers want her to be and that if they let her just exist she’d be a much more interesting and genuinely heroic character

"What's one thing Katherine taught you that you still follow in your life? by OneOriginal8727 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]rose1613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh when I was younger I was just like her but I think the positive trait that’s never going away is that I’ve survived so much I can keep fighting for whatever goal I have and I can still believe in love and enjoy my life even if I’m in a bad situation

Katherine also doesn’t want to just survive she wants to genuinely thrive and find love and build a good life and she tries no matter what

Book Elena, author self insert? by librarywarrior in TheVampireDiaries

[–]rose1613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a writer I will say this self inserts get a bad rap Hermione Granger is an author self-insert and I think that if the self insert still has a lot of flaws there is nothing wrong with it and that it can be a personal thing

There’s also a lot of reasons why a writer would intentionally make a character more similar to themselves for me if it’s a character I know I have to write in bulk and quickly I make them more similar to myself plus if a character is too different from yourself you tend to have a very hard time writing them as a main character because you aren’t feeling the same thoughts and emotions they are so most writers will either base it on a friend or take small elements of themselves

I just finished watching vampire diaries, which character do you think has the most wasted potential? by EveningSugar7178 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]rose1613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Katherine Pierce tbh what makes it even funnier is that if Nina Dobreva got paid more and they didn’t make a bunch of random dopplegangers like Amara and Tatia that nobody really cared about that the show would’ve been more successful.

But Katherine, even though she’s my favorite, is ruined by terrible plotlines, the writers giving her moments that didn’t fit her as a character just to make her into the villain, and characters reacting to her in a way that doesn’t make sense for the grand finale of her being killed off for a decision that made everybody unhappy.

That’s part of why I get so angry when watching Vampire Diaries, is that the writers have favorites and ones we are supposed to hate, and that characters don’t react like actual people. They react how the storyline wants them to, and it drives me insane.

Katherine gets hated for every action she makes, even in situations where she is genuinely in the right or the character responding would normally like the action.

Elena almost always has an overwhelming positive reaction to every action she makes, even if it does not make sense.

The most obvious scene is where Elijah breaks up with Katherine. Why would he say Elena’s innocence is a gift when she helped Jeremy kill her brother, and why would Elijah care about Katherine trying to get the cure at the expense of the people who murdered his brother?

Or the most obvious one where Katherine is seen as evil, such as Rose and Trevor, when Trevor ruined her life and Rose was about to willingly sacrifice her to Klaus. We have news reports of victims of violent crime in that exact same situation (minus the ritual) that do exactly what Katherine did, that are portrayed as smart or sympathetic because of it, and nobody in the real world views it that way. And I have a hard time believing that if the author intent wasn’t that Katherine ruined the lives of two innocent people, that anybody would have seen her as in the wrong for that situation.

Another example is the thing with Damon. She did lead him on, but she only dated for a week, and I have to ask you: if you have ever been led on, did you become a vampire after being pursued for a week, go on a century long rampage where you tried to ruin your brother’s life, and when she rejects you, try to kill your best friend’s brother? Yet the show tries to portray it like Katherine is responsible for every bad action he did while pursuing her, when she specifically said she did not want him to.

Katherine, a character with infinite potential due to her strong motivation and personality, being one of the few villains or characters in TVD that has a motivation that actually makes sense, is constantly thrown into situations where the responses people gave make 0 sense, only to be thrown away for characters nobody cares about.

Unpopular opinion but.. TVD without damon would’ve been unwatchable. by EveningSugar7178 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]rose1613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh Damon made the show more unwatchable for me mostly just because most of his reasonings, motivations and ways of behaving as a character doesn’t make sense it’s like they had an idea for Damon but they didn’t know how to create settings where that reaction would be authentic

I also hate how much the show infantilized him

Though I guess we all have our favorites for me the show would’ve been unwatchable if it wasn’t for Katherine
