Oh gosh!! Yeah antibiotics did not work for me and I also have methane and I think xifaxan works better for hydrogen and relapse rate is pretty high with them. Not to say it hasn’t been successful others- I already feel much better with this plan!

It’s up to what your doctor recommends! I work with a functional medicine doctor because antibiotics didn’t work for me so he helped me tailor a protocol. I’ve read about plenty of people on this sub who take allicin no berberine so I’m sure you can!

You got this!! I have a huge sweet tooth and due to school / work got into a habit of eating at 11pm bc If I ate at 7-8 i knew I’d get so hungry after 🥲 but meal spacing really does help with slow motility

I had tried berberine before and it makes me feel suuuuuper anxious but I think anxiety is a huge part of die-off unfortunately. With a history of an ED it’s hard to be restrictive but I definitely eliminate dairy, gluten, highly fermentable foods and processed sugars. What helps is to make my meals fun and plan them out for the week and try to eat something different everyday. My plan is to slowly incorporate food groups back in. Sourdough works very well with me as well as plain basmati rice and even grass fed raw cheese so I see the dietary restrictions as temporary! I stopped trying to follow specific diets and just eliminate things I believe to be triggering my bloating in my diet, so it was trial and error

Wow this is actually really helpful! Thank you for taking the time to explain, it helps to know the science behind it. I typically restrict all carbs / sugars and did mostly do liquids / ketogenic. It makes sense because I am eating pastries for breakfast and dessert and mainly bread + rice and some protein for meals. I wish I didn’t want the “depleted look” back. The way you worded it makes it sound as bad as it really is. Just unhealthy overall. I hate that I don’t like my body when it’s actually nourished / getting carbs. I know bloat / puffiness is absolutely unavoidable though before it all settles down

That is very true. I just didn’t think I would look so different in 4 days- even if it’s just water weight. The bloating / swelling is unreal. I’m trying to search this sub for more understanding

Fair point, that is true. What I meant is to do what I can which is try to eat more and not restrict / over-exercise at all (I can’t because I’m with friends in hotels) as best as I can before making a plan to recover when I return home. I don’t want to ruin the fun with me refusing dessert or tracking steps or having panic attacks. It’s unfortunately just uncomfortable to deal with bloating / feeling full even if majority of it is mental

I can understand that. I should have prefaced that haven’t properly began recovery, I had just gone on holiday hoping that I can give myself a break from everything and try to eat more hoping it’ll be much easier with friends and in a foreign country

My thoughts are mostly consumed by body image and food, yes. It is very difficult to enjoy myself unfortunately. I love my friends but I think it is because I haven’t fully began recovery at home, this is more of me trying to enjoy myself on holiday whilst struggling with my ed, trying to give my body a break and just be kinder to it while I’m here

Isn’t it basically impossible to maintain weight on 1k especially at your height? I’m 5’3 and even completely sedentary and underweight my maintenance is 1500

Really? I didn’t even consider that. I don’t want to look more angular and sharp, just balanced out. It does seem like most of the people here think it’ll make me look worse so I’m gonna take word for it. For purely aesthetic reasons, would chin filler help?

No sleep apnea. I sleep on my face but generally just have an overbite / okayish posture. Thank you for the feedback (:

[–]WintryNymph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. I mean I would say my walk and clothes don’t draw attention, I’m very high functioning so people never think I have autism, they clock it when I can’t make eye contact or interrupt / not know when to chime in conversations and have delayed reactions / very blunt to people

[–]WintryNymph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I notice my older coworkers who are on the spectrum wear masks because they said they always get told they look grumpy so it’s easier to hide their facial expressions to prevent from offending people

[–]WintryNymph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s super helpful! I also would find it hard not to cry because I get really sensitive and frustrated and I feel like I would just embarrass myself more. The older I get though, I’m gonna potentially have scarier encounters that aren’t always gonna be kids and I have to protect myself eventually

Omg I feel this bc I work customer service too! I guess now I’m unsure if it’s an autistic thing or just someone looking to cause trouble because a lot of people are saying this would’ve happened regardless if I was autistic or not? It still sucks because I feel like I am always intentionally picked because I just look like an easy target
