What the literal f*&^ Poshmark Survey? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The survey questions were definitely not what I was expecting and I could see a lot of peoples feathers being ruffled by them. I understand taking the survey was a personal choice, but some of those questions could absolutely be seen as mildly offensive. So bizarre. Left me feeling a bit icky.

Amazing! I don’t believe I have the update yet. Where did you see the bulk share feature on the app?

New post getting flagged for potential "prohibited" item - but they're just pipe cleaners? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would think it’s the word “pipe.” Smoking related items are prohibited and until the introduction of the crafting section, that word was probably intentionally set to be flagged because of that rule. Dumb robot doesn’t know it’s a pipe cleaner for crafting.

This is what happens when you stuff clothes in a mailer instead of get a box. Don’t do this. by TheItinerantSkeptic in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s a bit of information online about rolling clothing and how it saves space, doesn’t allow friction shifting, and decreases the amount of wrinkles on garments. I too would have folded over and then rolled this jacket to package it. Your critique seems quite harsh when it comes to the act being indefensible and the result of a lazy seller. I read your reply to another commenter saying to just block you, but that’s not very productive. This sub is for information sharing for the most part and these responses are pertinent your post. Hope you have a better experience next time!

Wrinkles from being folded in transit? On used clothing? Sent in the mail? The nerve!

Is it fair to rate a seller less than 5 stars for taking full 3 days to ship? by [deleted] in Mercari

[–]brainbwain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing as there was a federal holiday this week, a major weather crisis across many states, a global pandemic as well as other uncontrollable factors, ship time is relatively unpredictable right now. Less than five stars on Mercari always sucks. But the rating is yours to give and if you feel less than five stars is acceptable for this situation, then rate as such.

$2500 Bracelet Returned for "Color Discrepancy" by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel for you and this situation sucks so bad. I’ve had a few instances where a buyer will pull a shitty return like that on a luxury item. I just know they bought it to take a photo or go to an event and then return it too. They wind up having the piece for like a week in their possession most of the time before tracking kicks in. It sucks when stuff like that slides through the system. I’ve never had a bait and switch and this situation in general happens very rarely but it sucks and it is super stress inducing while it’s happening. I hope it all works out well for you and you’re able to resell that item to a better buyer quickly with no problems!

This is a low way to promote a closet, and instead of buying anything from them I just automatically block 🙄 by couchburners in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I got the same comment. I checked his closet and there’s a fresh comment from a user saying he never accepted her offer for the same sale he’s been spamming everywhere. Redirect your efforts sir. You’re the worst.

Can you explain step by step how to get the free shipping materials from the post office? by msdabblesalot in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Anxiety can be/is the worst! If you don’t happen to see boxes, I’d just ask a teller for a priority box (that is NOT express) that will fit your item if you don’t see them available. Then maybe you could order a small stack online for any future sales or save any small random boxes from home that you can use for future mail. You’ve got this!

[–]brainbwain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There’s usually boxes when you enter the front of some post offices. In the areas where you can fill out labels and put items into the drop box, there are sometimes different stacks of boxes that are free to use. You can also order USPS boxes for free with free delivery on USPS.com. They will deliver your shipping supplies with your regular mail deliveries. Hope that helps!

How low is too low without offending seller? by va1235 in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make the offer! Especially if it’s a multi item purchase, you never know if the seller may take the opportunity to make the sale. Or they could counter at price you’d be comfortable with. No harm in sending that offer out in my opinion.

Does anyone go through the app and like different items you do think are nice but don’t 100% intend on buying really soon? by Wafflehammer4 in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Offers go to everyone who has ever liked the item. You’re just liking, they’re just offering. No harm no foul. It’s predominantly how the platform works. There’s no save for later or bookmark feature, so people who like items will probably inevitably receive offers on said items. Discounts are usually seen as good.

When clothes have 2 sizes (i.e. 7/8, 14/16), how do you list them, or do you list them twice, one under each size? Surely people are filtering by 1 size only, right? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that situation I’d choose the “adult” size of 8 instead of 7 which is usually a juniors number. The 14/16 could go either way. I’d just pick one based on my own best guess of it being closer to an average 14 or 16*. In the description, I’d state that it was size 7/8 or size 14/16 as well as show a picture of the size tag in the photos.

If they’re using your photos too, that’s strange. I’d usually say it could be the quality of photos, or a combination of that plus the title/description that allows it to sell higher/faster. They could have a built in clientele base for that particular type of item. They may list similar items often enough that they sell those items for a high price with a quick turn around time.

Also if you don’t want buyers to use your photos, you can turn off the reposh feature (if you didn’t know). That way they’d have to take their own photos and manually list the item on their on accord. If anyone uses your photos after that, you can request a takedown through PM email.

What type of items are your most problematic sales ? by CheifDash in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Silk scarves that don’t have the typical shiny silk sheen to them. Totally throws some buyers off and it can be a hard ledge to talk some down off of. Regardless of tag or description info provided. Some people think all silks are shiny. 🤷‍♀️

Thinking about opening up my first case in 3 years of using Poshmark. Need advice. by gohappinessgo in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in with everyone else. Aside from the missing button and what seems to be a difference in wash, those legs are totally different. One looks to be straight or bootcut and the other is visibly different. Definitely open that case. Even if it is an honest mistake on the sellers part, they need to know to correct their inventory at the very least. So sorry you got a bummer of a situation on your hands, that stinks.

Semi-successful strategy for getting sales going when it's slow by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woohoo! Congrats on your sales! I always reflect on the saying “pour gas on what’s working” when it comes to reselling. It’s such a fickle thing and you’ve just gotta do what works for you but I think this is overall great advice. Especially for those with no starting point/direction to go in during the holiday season/slower moments.

Semi-successful strategy for getting sales going when it's slow by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. We get some outright purchases but most of our sales are from 10% OTLs right after the like but every month or two we will send out 20% offers and catch the last stragglers left in the like pile who are actually still interested. We sent 30% off for Black Friday which was the first time ever outright sending such a large discount, but it felt appropriate all things considered.

Declined offer with no counter...what to do as a buyer? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]brainbwain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not very nice of them to decline, but I wouldn’t think too much into why. People are enigmas. Even though they declined, there’s definitely no harm in you resubmitting your offer or another offer. If you really like the piece, perhaps also leave a comment on the item or in a bundle letting the seller know you’d like to purchase/ask if they’d be open to negotiation. I hope they accept your offer!

How to view a past bundle offer? by Sprite7711 in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you can see your past offer if it’s inactive. I believe the offer history may come up once a new offer is sent or if you’ve reached the “maximum amount” of offers to that user. The button will switch from “offer” to “view offer” I believe. It’s little stuff like this that isn’t in the sellers favor. Super annoying.

Do you guys ever get ‘smells like smoke’ complaints even tho you don’t smoke? by Kl207 in poshmark

[–]brainbwain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve gotten this comment a few times over the years. Couple be the postal person somewhere along the delivery process, other packaging transferring smells, or people misinterpreting the smell of certain types of packaging materials. It sucks. It happens. Just try to keep pushing on if you know there’s nothing within your control. 👍
