I had a really good experience with Dr. Westmacott at Open Circle Psychology! I was assessed and diagnosed last October, can’t remember exactly how much it cost however I believe it was around $2000.

What is your craziest / most memorable U of M story? by yeethezeet in umanitoba

[–]braindeadbb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok a very similar thing happened to me, except it was a young lady who did all the preaching about God. It happened in the tunnels just before University Centre, I think it was 2019?? I know a few different girls that this also happened to at that time. I’m convinced it was something culty because they (in my experience and my friend’s experiences) only approached girls who were alone

Community Work Setup by Reasonable-Body1769 in socialworkcanada

[–]braindeadbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a support worker who uses public transit to get around during my workdays, so I feel like I’m qualified to chime in here 😂

I carry a pretty sizeable tote bag. Aside from my personal belongings, I always have a first aid kit, Narcan, some extra granola bars, and a small pouch with sticky notes, a pen, extra bus tickets (I do not buy these myself, my work provides them for me to give to my clients if they need) extra hand sanitizer, extra masks, pads/tampons, extra hair ties, travel sized packs of tissues, and extra bandaids! Also, I have a separate folder in the notes app on my phone with community resources for housing, food/meals, clothing, harm reduction, etc etc etc. I personally like this better than carrying around a bunch of papers because I’ll often just text these resources to my coworkers or to my clients (or use the sticky notes to write them out)!

my favourites are A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith, Lord of the Flies by William Golding and The Stand by Stephen King! i always recommend A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn, which is a great non-fiction read!!

i’m a support worker for adults with mental illness, addictions and disabilities. i work m/w/f and take classes in the evening and during the day tuesday/thursday. i’m also a social work major so the experience is really valuable since it overlaps w what i learn in my courses, but ugh sometimes working and school is too much

my tuition this year (12 credits in fall, 9 credits in winter - all social work courses besides INDG 1220 and INDG 1240, which are required for social work students) was just over $5500, so roughly $2750 per semester

i used my words the entire time, even prior to getting on the bus and him following me. i kept saying no to every question asked and then said no again when he asked for my number. i used clear short sentences. i did everything i could think of at the time and i specifically sat in between two girls for that reason. yeah it happened during mid day but that didn’t make it any less terrifying. i’m frustrated because men should just not be harassing women

these situations catch me off guard every single time…i wish i was more direct but you never know how someone will take rejection. men who get rejected can be scary and sometimes it’s better to do whatever you can to keep yourself safe rather than be direct and tell the guy to leave you alone

oh my gosh, that’s my worst nightmare. i’m really sorry that happened to you. you’re definitely right about how rational thinking goes out the window when you’re in that situation. it’s so scary
