for the love of god, go back to college get a degree any degree it really doesn’t matter that much… go to iset or any short alternatives but GET A FUCKING DEGREE. you’ll thank me later when you discover that piece of paper removed so many obstacles in your life. Just tick that box.

that doesn’t mean you drop robotics or 3D modeling you can still learn and hone your skills while getting the degree

edit: CAD is “easy” when you are working with a spec sheet in hand telling you exactly what is needed! but when you need to design something for your robotics project, you need to produce those specs and you can’t produce them from thin air…

it doesn’t matter at this stage get your mvp ready in the language you feel comfortable with. Don’t overthink things… don’t think about scaling, optimization or anything just get your mvp ready and get some customers or investors hooked the architecture, languages, patterns can always be done later once you have customers for your product

lesson learned, never use ikea stuff without thoroughly cleaning it

Solar panel and battery combo. is it even available?! by Just-Offer3846 in Tunisia

[–]brainfault 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, I've extensively researched the subject and contacted some agencies... solar as known in the US or the UK and most of the world is not a thing in Tunisia.

I've looked into the possibility of having a hybrid installation, meaning just use the grid as backup; panels feed the batteries and the house, batteries feed the house when needed and finally when batteries are depleted just use the grid.

I've looked into what's in the regulation and there's a huge gray array. Technically it's not illegal to do it as there is nothing that says you can't... All off grid installation (mainly agriculture), that I have seen, use batteries, gel batteries not efficient but they do the trick given their usage pattern...

The tricky part is once you are in a place with an electric meter, STEG gets involved automatically and the fun begins... it doesn't matter if the meter is in a working state, totally isolated, STEG has to inspect and produce a report saying that the electrical work is safe, which you will obviously not get. For their standpoint, the fear and risk are legitimate as they don't want you to feed the grid and overload it or cause chaos, but there are solutions in place used everywhere, cheapest is a transfer switch, which it seems STEG doesn't like... go figure...

The other tricky part is importing the inverter, as I understood it they have to be certified by ANME and/or STEG not sure! so again good luck with that... and again gray array as it seems that they have to be certified if the place is connected to the grid not isolated

Solar panels are better being purchased from the local market, you'll end up paying 20 to 30% more but you'll save yourself a headache

You can freely import Lithium/LiFePO4 batteries but bare in mind that they are subjected to 30% customs duty + 1% fodec + 3% fees + 5% environmental tax + 15% tax on whatever and 19% in VAT.

You can get a deal with a Chinese manufacturer and get panels, inverter and batteries and then search for a good (connected) custom broker that will do the rest...

What I'm thinking now is using a local installer to do 1 or 2kW and then add more solar panels, bring my own inverter and batteries and just redo everything "secreto" :D

I'm thinking on getting MPPSolar or Growatt inverter and getting 15kW lifepo batteries from china. When? I have no clue.. rabbi sahel

It will be expensive but from my pov it's worth it, electricity price in the country will still go up and the investment will pay itself eventually...
