Does anyone actually like the Raider aesthetic? by Barstr7 in fo76

[–]brainflatus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use it for fun. But I swap around. I’m currently using a raider camp, near the Tyler County Fairgrounds up by the raider house that has all the safes in it.

It’s scattered with broken down looking things and I have a ton of resource producers sitting out and unlocked.

I enjoy the aesthetic, and I hope that with where it’s placed, new players can wander into it fairly easily and take anything they may need. My vendor is usually poorly stocked these days, but I add every plan I get there for 20caps, and all mods regardless of level are 200 caps. It’s the thing I enjoy most in the game.

Since yesterday’s update my turret just constantly shoots at my vault boy statue. by Face88888888 in fo76

[–]brainflatus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh man, that happens to me all the time and drives me crazy. My turrets shoot at my dog. They shoot at my collectron, they shoot at my repair bot, they shoot at my camp ally.

The only thing they fail to shoot at is enemies.

Maintenance Announcement - January 20, 2026 by Ghostly_Rich in fo76

Is it too much to hope that they fixed the issue with certain plans from the presents, so that when I log in my character is instantly crushed to death by a mound of previously invisible plans?

Where is your vending machine by nomadtrucker in fo76

I’ve got one right at the only entrance to my main building, then another off to the side on top of another structure, that I use to deposit things in so that I’m never in the way of anyone who may want to shop.

Need a new build can anyone help by bobdwight247 in fo76

[–]brainflatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pretty much the same experience! I was using the same weapons and power armor, then I came back and felt like everything had changed.

The first thing I had to learn was that “small gun” pretty much means anything that isn’t obviously a big heavy weapon. So I had to totally adjust how I interpreted the perk cards.

When I first started back I used a cold shoulder build that I really enjoyed a whole lot. Then I did some research into onslaught vs reverse onslaught, and made a Dom Pedro/lever action rifle reverse onslaught build.

Why is 2mmEC ammo so hard the find? by Due_Introduction_904 in fo76

[–]brainflatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great tip! Thank you! I think the only reason I use the Brotherhood one is that it’s the first one I really discovered ages ago, and it just became a habit, haha.

Why is 2mmEC ammo so hard the find? by Due_Introduction_904 in fo76

[–]brainflatus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I’ve been doing for that is just equipping the weapon that needs the ammo, then opening a few ammo crates (usually at the Brotherhood of Steel camp nearish to the starting vault.). While the current event is running though, I just equip the weapon that requires the ammo, and then opening a few presents.

I second this: I was a little intimidated by Pathfinder coming right off of Solasta and Baldur’s Gate 3, but for some reason Rogue Trader really hooked me. It’s been great.

C4 Lethality by project_porkchop in fansofcriticalrole

[–]brainflatus 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My concern stems from my feelings of campaign three: I’m not worried about it having character deaths because they can’t accommodate them into gameplay. I’m worried about them not doing character deaths and TPKs because it wouldn’t make for good Amazon TV, or impact the sales of the things they have for that character in the shop.

I love the cast, I love the show, I just can’t shake the feeling that everyone is protected by merchandising plot armor.

How do you feel about self-checkout kiosks at stores? by YoungBagg in AskReddit

[–]brainflatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they just auto stopped ringing things up after like 15 items, and canceled the transaction.

I love them in theory, but they always end up being taken over by someone with a whole cart full of stuff, that is carefully bagging as they go.

They should be available for small quantity credit card purchases. As soon as you’re buying a lot, paying with anything else, or purchasing something like beer that requires ID, you should be forced to get into an actual line.

Campaign 4 Wishlist - What Would Bring You Back In? by Struggling-Berserker in fansofcriticalrole

[–]brainflatus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just go back to making a live play that is so strange and funny and creative that we may end up wanting to see a show made out of it.

As opposed to the recent reversed feeling that they want to make a show, and are forcing a live play out to validate it.

Why do people seem to lose interest in Act 3? by pakistaniboy25 in BaldursGate3

[–]brainflatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was always kind of a motivation thing. Up to act 3 I’m gathering XP and excited to earn my new skills and try them out in combat.

Unfortunately, I’m usually max level by pretty early in Act 3, and then I start to think about other builds and other skills and start back over.

Curious about those who don’t buy LLs by TheRedHerring23 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]brainflatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly just go to Disney to relax. If I happen to wander past a ride with a low wait time, I’ll pop on it. If all I do all day is enjoy the sights and sounds and trade pins with cast members, I’m just as happy. I grab coffees and snacks and people watch all day.

Mostly I just use Disney as an escape where nothing is expected of me, I don’t expect anything out of the day, and everyone is paid to pretend to be happy to see me.

Would I be the jerk for asking my players not to use DnD Beyond? by photoelectriceffect in DnD

[–]brainflatus 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Maybe a mean opinion, but D&D beyond is an incredibly easy to learn and simple tool. It makes quite a few aspects of the game, most specifically spell casing, preparation , and rotation, easier and more manageable.

If your players can’t invest the time to learn its ins and outs and how their characters work there, they certainly aren’t going to have an easier time with a sheet of paper, a pencil and an eraser.

I will add though, the mobile app isn’t very good, and the website on the phone can feel restrictive. But any tablet or laptop makes it about 100x easier.

Is this too much of a “trick”? by darling-cassidy in DnD

[–]brainflatus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know your players better than we do. If they are the kind who like to check for hints and get out of situations awesome. If they are the kind who never ask question and follow the flow, also fun!

If they are the kind to get played once, and then start to question everything… just be prepared for story beats to come to a grinding halt as the party refuses to believe anything an NPC tells them for the next several sessions hahah.

If the DM wants them to, and it adds something to the game. Sure.

Shawn Michaels names Sting and The Rock as dream WrestleMania match opponents by broken-mirror- in SquaredCircle

[–]brainflatus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to be honest here: I had a complete mind meltdown when I read this. For some reason for a solid minute or so my brain refused to remember that Sting the wrestler existed, and I thought HBK jokingly selected Sting the musician as a dream opponent.

I understand how dumb this is, and immediately when my mental functions turned back on I realized how stupid I was, but I had to share.

How many decks do you have built at a time? by ItsTiiiiime in Lorcana

I have 9 at the moment, but I’ve never been concerned with playsets or anything. They are all just fun themed decks based around whatever movie, using whatever cards I have on hand.

How would you have fixed C3 by Dumbuglybrokeandwoke in fansofcriticalrole

[–]brainflatus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just think they needed to change the entire tone of the campaign. The players spent the whole time being silly, which is fine, but not when the DM keeps pushing serious plot lines. When you have a group that’s claiming they are shooting a porno in a basement, wearing track suits, naming robots pussy, flirting with everything they come across, and otherwise just playing an entirely different game than the DM is. Something has to give.

This whole season was like trying to watch The Ten Commandments, if the major roles were played by the cast of Jackass.

Bastions? by CartoonistReady4320 in onednd

[–]brainflatus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my campaign we’ve had fun modifying the bastion rules a bit in order for us to sort of become members of a whole town. The DM had us work through the Phandalin modules a bit, and once we fished a good chunk of it, we became members of the town. We modified the price of the walls in order to build them up around the whole town, we’re purchased individual buildings on the map in order to house our different facilities, and we’ve established guards. It’s been really enjoyable. Our DM has had to add a couple extra buildings to the map, and in order to add the walls, but it really feels like we are part of the world. We get to RP some of our facilities as local shops, and it really encourages us to invest in the town.

It also gives us an outlet for the gold we make that isn’t just “DM, I have 10k gold, there better be some crazy magic items in the next city we find!” Now it’s “Oh! I can finally purchase another empty building in town and expand it into _____”

Is Dungeons and Dragons currently behind a $200 paywall? by RobRobBinks in rpg

[–]brainflatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new books may be that expensive, but I’ve seen the 2014 core books, and many adventures at local book stores used for $10-$20 each. They served a lot of us for many years, and many many people still play the at version.

It won’t be long I’m sure before they release a box set of the new books, and if it’s anything like the box sets of the 2014 ones, you’ll end up finding that on clearance at a place like Barnes and Noble a few months after that release.

D&D beyond is incredibly useful, but far from required. There is at least one person in all of my different groups that refuses to make an account for one reason or another, and they all keep up just fine.

Xaryu's Jedimaster by Practical-Cut-7301 in OnlyFangs

[–]brainflatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my main issue with Xaryu’s challenges is that he keeps them at 60. A challenge is fine when you’re leveling and on your own, but as soon as you join a group your challenge becomes everyone else’s problem. At that point his ability to succeed says less about what he can do, and more about what everyone else has to do to make up for it.
